My kids went to Lime Hollow for the summer programs for years and loved it. Both eventually worked there as mentors. They have a fantastic program with fun themed weeks. Peter the resident naturalist is amazing and does a great job teaching and mentoring. If you want your kids to appreciate nature and have wilderness skill that will allow them to thrive after the zombie apocalypse you can't beat Lime hollow. The trails are nice and vary in character. There are also a couple of pounds and streams and meadows with bird habitat. They have steadily improved the trails to reduce muddy sections and recently added informational plaques. I really enjoyed the views-- but there were two pretty glaring issues: First, sparce trail markers that were sometimes the same color as the trees they were on and washed out signage along with trails that werent cleared made it hard to hold the trail. The second issue was because it was hard to hold the trail, and because many trails were covered in leafs/debris both me an my hiking partner had deer ticks when we got home.
Def would encourage better markings and clearing the paths of leaves/debris. Might also just be better in summer/winter and spring. I would not chance...
Read moreReally nice park! I was here at 4pm on a weekday and only 1 other car was in the parking lot.
It can be a bit of a maze at times. I use the geocaching app and On X app which shows the trails so I could navigate.
In the Nature center you can get a copy of the map and also there's signage of the map but even with that I was confused as to where I was some of the time so I'd refer to my apps. They do have colored triangles on the trees corresponding to the trails, but there are other offshoot trails.
I wish I had more time to explore...
