Marl Lake is a gem! Yes, the water is that clear and blue! If you paddle in or hike in the experience is well worth it. Please keep it clean and take with you whatever you bring in! PARENTS OF SMALL CHILDREN: I just wanted to let you know a few things so you can prepare accordingly. As I have heard several parents complaining at the lake. There is a long flight of rustic stone stairs to get to the lake. Not stroller friendly. We pack everything in a wagon, and two people carry down. There is not a place to spread out a blanket or room for the kids to play on shore. The shoreline is maybe 10'x30' dirt, no sand, heavily wooded, and the mosquitoes and biting flies on shore can be bad at times. There is a very small picnic area but usually it's occupied all day.
