I visited this park along with my kids. There is a small playground with informational posts about plants and animals that children may find interesting. We chose to hike the blue (cliff) trail, part of the yellow and the red trail. It was doable for my six and ten year old, but there are plenty of hazards to be aware of. Primarily the fall hazard of the blue trail and the generally rough, uneven, rocky terrain of all three trails we hiked. DO NOT take your young kids on the blue trail, if they cannot follow your directions, because of the constant fall hazard. Make sure you're fit enough to hike a trail like this. Other than that, I recommend starting your hike earlier in the day so you don't run out of light. Bring plenty of water especially on warm days (today was 86 f and mid 70's percent humidity)and maybe an energy bar. Bring one of the park maps with you to help you find your way around, though the trails are pretty well marked. A spritz of Off could be helpful as well. Also I don't remember if there's cell service but it may not hurt to have your phone with you in case of a mishap. Be...
Read moreClark Reservation is one of my favorite hiking places. The trails are marked and clear. The views are great for this modest size park. There's a playground for the kids, and a number of places for picnics. There are trash cans around but I believe it's a carry in carry out park. *There are no food/beverage vendors on site. There is a fee during the summer to get in. (honestly not sure how much as I write this) However, it's free to get in during the "off season". Checking NYS Parks site may be helpful to determine the drive in cost. Dogs are allowed on leashes and you must pick up the dog's waste. There are bags on sight that you can get for this purpose. Be aware that the large rocks in the area, on hiking trails, can be very slippery. Using caution and common sense while enjoying the park. There is also a public restroom near the parking lot, which is generally clean for both...
Read moreA quaint little park hidden among the trees. When you start hiking the trails it no longer seems like a little park. Great hike along the upper trail. Wear good hiking shoes because there is plenty of tree roots to trip you up and slippery rocks. Beautiful view of Glacier Lake. The rocks and the rock ledges are amazing. Many of the rocks are polished to a great shine from all the foot traffic. Boulders are everywhere with trees growing around them and over them. I found a fossil in one of the rocks. Great hike but would not take small children or little dogs on the upper trail. Some parts of the trail are pretty close to the edge. We did not see any wildlife while hiking. There is an unusual playground for the little ones with fake trees to crawl on. Picnic tables and clean restrooms. A great place to hike and enjoy nature and so...
