It is a pleasant place if you don't expect too much. It is essentially an expanded parking rest area with a great view. You actually can see the mountains of New Hampshire in the distance, as well as Vermont, Connecticut, Massachusetts, but you should really bring a pair of binoculars. If you plan it as a simple day trip with this as a tailgating picnic mini party, it could make for a great get together. I would suggest that the DOT administration put up an information board to explain the location, as there isn't anything there in the way of educational or informative...
Read moreFortunate and unfortunate. Fortunate for the environment the trees in the area are growing quite healthy and lushly. Unfortunately for the view it's losing some of its impact in the summer, as trees on the ground level have grown high enough to obstruct the view of the ground in most of the parking lot so that you don't get much of a view other than mountain tops. The sunset is nice but the view is not as nice as other areas however most of those areas aren't open to the public. On the way there don't drive too quick otherwise you'll miss...
