The first thing we noticed when we arrived was that the professionalism was unmatched by any of the numerous vineyards we've visited before. We were seated and served by Gerry, one of the co-owners and winemakers, who was able to go into extreme depth about not only the wines he made, but also the cheese platter he served. One of my favorite aspects of wine tasting is getting into the minutiae of everything served, so being told exactly what was on the cheese board and where it was produced was a wonderful experience.
The wine is amazing. We were drawn to the vineyard due to their award winning 2015 vintage marquette "Independence." While their most recent vintage of Independence is not quite ready yet, we were very happy to see that they are not a one wine vineyard. Every wine we tasted was delicious. Victory View makes wine to enjoy with food. The food paring recommendations were another detail that I enjoyed Gerry going into. While some wineries will simply say their wine goes with "fish" or "red meat," Victory View will tell you exactly what type of fish, meat, or style of cooking each wine goes with.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would definitely recommend going out of your way...
Read moreI was visiting Saratoga Springs and Lake George last weekend and was hoping to find a nice little winery to stop in, and this was such a great find! I read great reviews on Reddit so stopped in on Friday afternoon and had a wonderful experience. The place is green and beautiful and the tasting room is super cute. The owners were so nice and told us about the vineyard, the grapes and the wines. I did a tasting of 6 wines for $12 I believe (possibly $15), and ended up purchasing two bottles. I have wine tasted in Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles, the finger lakes and out on LI, and love waxing poetic with my wine tasting descriptions and really loved the “antique” flavors a few of these wines offered and the bottles are such a great price. I had such a nice, relaxing time and...
Read moreAlthough off the beaten path, this was an excellent stop if you’re traveling through this region. They really know their wines - we met the owner who told us about his long-standing interest in growing fine grapes and even the wait staff was knowledgeable on the wines and the process. The wine was superb- I highly recommend their white wines, but everyone’s taste is different so a wine tasting is a great place to start.
The whole experience was pleasant, affordable, and very COVID-safe. They even have local cheese to offer....
