Very pretty property with lots of good plant identification information along the way. They have lovely maps but the trail markers themselves don't always correlate with them clearly. For instance, if a trail is a particular color on a map it is helpful to have colored markings along the trail itself. I am sure this spring's weather has a lot to do with it but the grass is super long right now and I ended up picking up a tick despite appropriate clothing.

Thanks so much for the response! For some reason it is not letting me reply to your reply so I am editing. I was primarily on Willow and Woodland Trail. I felt like Willow anticipated that people would be entertaining the trail from the Shanti Vun side- I did not and was not always clear whether the branches I encountered were still Willow branches or if I had reached Acorn. Also, I drove up to try to go to the waterfall overlook and never did find the correct parking lot - I am not local and drove past the Pioneer Trail lot but saw a sign saying the road ended so turned back. It would have been helpful to have an idea how far past the Pioneer lot the Montgomery lot is, especially as the neighbor's signage seems a little hostile! I certainly can't blame Landis for the tick, especially given the weather conditions making mowing so hard, just wanted to alert people that they might consider repellents or going once you have been able...

I was so impressed by Landis Arboretum and the variety of programs, activities, and specialty areas designed for experiencing nature. There were walking trails, a meditation area with a water feature and labyrinth; pavilions for outdoor meetings, classes, events, and retreats; boxes to attract bluebirds for the birding community to enjoy; flowers in perennial gardens, old-growth trees, exotics and native plants, as well as educational and volunteer opportunities. The views are so vast and overwhelming in how beautiful New York State is to enjoy from such a height. The meeting house holds musical performances and groups and weddings and also serves the community as an emergency shelter. Astronomers hold star gazing events at night year ‘round. There is so much to see and do there in a peaceful and pleasant environment. It’s the way the whole world should be experienced. And it’s free to enjoy 365...

My girlfriend and I went there for the semi annual plant sale. It was a very crowded event, and the parking attendants were very well organized. My girlfriend insisted on hiking on a trail that led to the rhododendrons first thing, and the volunteers were very accommodating. I didn't find any plants that I was really looking for, but my girlfriend bought a nice single red peony that she liked. We also ate lunch there. My girlfriend had a very nice tasting cheeseburger, and my grilled chicken sandwich was superb!!! (And the Millionaire Bar was wonderful too.) Afterwards we went to the Carrot Barn, and Apple Barrel stores nearby. A full and exhausting day in the heat, but a...

Beautiful and scenic spot not too far from the Cap. Region. 30-40 mins from Albany. I wanted to bring my kids to see a botanical garden nearby, Landis Arboretum came up during my search. We went this week, so I think it’s a bit early still for all the real blooms. But it was still a beautiful place to visit and explore. A little muddy still but the open area, pavilion, and sculptures were fun to look at. We will be back when the weather gets a bit warmer! Also, bring snacks! There’s not a whole lot nearby and the town is quite small.

Many garden type paths through well labeled native species of trees and shrubs, surrounded by woods and trails. Looks to have been an older small farm plot as with many of the properties in rural upstate. It's well maintained and there is much to learn, or just enjoy the environment this setting provides as a park. We left a small donation as they appear to do much work here with native plant species. Looking forward to learning more about what they do.
