Two stars mostly for the chaos and rudeness of two employees. Came in at a very busy time on a Saturday, 9/6, and it seemed pretty chaotic and it was unclear who to go to for what. At one time there were four employees behind the wine bar and no one at the food counter to take our slips. Waited a good ten minutes and had to wave down the cook who was standing behind the wine bar. She is NOT very pleasant at all, rude and offered no apology or concern about how long we had been waiting. Keep in mind, we already paid AND tipped. Suckered.
Inquired on pizza because there's no list of flavors. A woman with dark hair helping us called over another employee, Jan, who tossed an ad for pizza at us, but still no list of what kinds offered. When asked what kind of pizzas there were, Jan just walked away. The woman helping us seemed embarrassed and apologized and suggested we ask the, Neena, the cook.
When we came up to get another sample, Jan made us go back and get our dirty glasses to reuse.
The food prices are up there, good food when we finally got it, but having to be your own server/busser at those prices is pretty lame, ESPECIALLY when they expect tips! So all they're doing is pouring wine and it's that chaotic??? Two girls seemed to be on it, the other two (Jan and the cook) looked to be in the way and again, rude.
Really good wine, though. Probably won't return and sit in as there seems to be little structure, the rudeness is unwelcoming, and in a place like with the prices they ask, we don't expect to wait on ourselves or clean up. Might pick up a bottle of wine...
Read moreIt is a beautiful building on a beautiful setting and a great place to visit. It is decorated with fun things like Thrones and suits of armor which make it a very unique place to visit as well . The wine is very good, we have tasted wine all over the country and thought they had some very decent vintages here. These are wines that are mainly made from northern grapes which means they're for the most part going to be sweeter wines . The service was okay. We got there at 6:30 and they close at 7 and they acted like they didn't really want us to do a wine tasting we told them that we were still doing a tasting as we had come from over an hour away. The servers were pleasant but there seemed to be discrepancies as to what they think is a reasonable pour for tasting. My opinion is that if you're going to charge people to taste the wine then you should give them a decent pour so that they can enjoy and really taste the experience. We usually almost always buy at least one bottle of wine to leave with so the money is comped back. One server was very generous with her pours while the one right next to her barely gave you a sip and would actually pour it out of your glass if she gave you too much. Really? What are you going to do with that wine you poured out of my glass? I hope you don't pour it back into the bottle or drink it...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I went on this tasting expecting good or great wines based on the prices and review. Take a look at the Groupon breakdown: "• A tasting of five different wines and winery tour (a $20 value) • A sample cheese platter (an $8.44 value) • Assorted chocolates (a $6.33 value) • Two wine glasses to take home (a $10.55 value)." For that, we shared a plate of 4 small pieces of cheese, a handful of crackers and two small chocolates. These were not $3.17/piece quality chocolates, as the pricing suggests. Overall, the wine was very disappointing. Despite wanting to thoroughly enjoys the wines we thought at best the wines were bland and lacking the tastes flavors the descriptions gave. Honestly I would never spend the kind of money they were asking for a bottle of insipid wine. I have had better tasting wine from the Trader Joe's two buck chuck section. Speaking of Trader Joe's we found some of the same exact cheese sold there for a third the price. As for the atmosphere, it was deplorable. It was full of several loud and obnoxious groups that insisted on yelling across the room to get someone's attention. Not to mention they managed to block the bar area from allowing others to sample the wines. My advice is to avoid this location. I wouldn't waste my time or money on overpriced swill...
