Tinker Falls is a nice two-stage drop. Stairs take you up behind the falls, but those stairs are not for everyone. The stairs continue on the other side of the falls and will take you up to above the falls. However, the last 10' of these stairs are semi-dangerous. If you get up there, you can attempt to follow the blue trail out to a dirt road about 3/4 of a mile away and go uphill to the hang glider launch point (about another 3/4 of a mile away). There are impressive views from up here. You can then take the road all the way back down to the parking lot on Route 91 and thereby avoid having to descend the stairs at the falls. PS - I say "attempt" to follow the blue trail because the trail marking is at least somewhat confusing above the falls. As I recall, you will come to to places where the trail diverges/you need to make a choice as to which way to go. If you go left both times and keep working your way uphill I think you will eventually come out to the dirt road. Do some additional research beforehand on the trails...
Read moreEasy parking. Clean. Walkway is decked out. Peaceful walk near Labrador pond. Has benches you can sit at. Its bear Tinker Falls and hang glider hill. The people seem friendly there. Very big parking lot and a lot of room for everyone. There is a boat launch for non motorized boats. I saw someone fishing from there and letting his dogs swim in the water. You can bring your dogs on a leash there. I did not see any port a potty. There is a map that shows where you are and how to get to Tinker Falls and the scenic overlook. The overlook is a 2 mile walk uphill with moderate difficulty. The water at Tinker Falls is not flowing strong at this time. There are rest benches on the walk there and parking as well. It would be a good idea to wear your covid mask for other peoples consideration. The walkway does have sections where you may be forced to walk by other people passing by. It's a nice peaceful place to walk around and enjoy fresh air....
Read moreLabrador Hollow Unique Wilderness area offers 3 wonderful excursions. There is a waterfall that is a very easy hike for young children and it rewarded with a spectacular scene when you get to the falls. There are stone steps that allow you to climb right up to the falls. There’s also an adjoining trail on the beginning of the trail, and a second lead in near the falls that leads to a breathtaking view along the valley when you get to the top. (We’ve dubbed it the “steep loop” trail.) the steep trail is really an “out and back” trail, however. But you can veer off to different paths from it. Including a fun path that climbs the next big hill right across the road. And a little further down the road, there is a wonderful boardwalk that winds around native wetland flowers and trees and leads to a beautiful lake view. It’s a path that also works with strollers and wheelchairs. You can also swim in the lake and feed the fish. A great family...
