Unwise, self-defeating, and venal. County parks benefit ALL residents, whether they visit them or not. Not only do parks contribute to maintaining ecological services, they provide physical and social benefits to the community. So, starting to charge an entrance fee has two major problems: it disenfranchises anyone who simply doesn't have extra money to spend, removing the place as a public good; and, more importantly, it diminishes the value of the property to the community by equating it with the revenue it generates. It would be better to sell the land to a nonprofit than keep it as a retreat for only a portion of the community

I was there Memorial Day weekend. Nice place. There are fish to catch. The lawn needs to be cut. Did the lawnmower break? I don't believe Leonard would have let the lawn get like this. As a Washington County taxpayer I was disappointed. I thought this was a park?

Great Park! Restrooms and a nice large shelter for groups. Nice swimming beach. Small non-motor lake for canoeing and kayaking. Out here on a beautiful Thursday night for beer tasting in the Park, live music and a great jug's hitching Post fish fry!

Beautiful beach. Clean flush bathrooms nearby. Nice playground for school aged children. My only complaint is the walkway from overflow parking down to the beach. It is very, very steep initially. If you are wearing flipflops or other beach shoes that don't have a ton of support, you can slide out of them while you're walking down this walkway. Also, there are at least 3 divets in the concrete on that initial steep part where stroller wheels get stuck, you could step into it and fall, then you'd go rolling down the hill! My advice would be to get there early so you can park by the beach, or drive down and unload at the beach and come back up to park, so you don't have a bunch of stuff to haul down...

"Lake" would be 10x better if beach was bigger and cleaner. Also if lake water was cleaner and bottom was more sand less sludge. And I really have to wonder what they are paying the like 15 park workers to do there when I was there I saw a bunch of kids in green park shirts literally sitting around in the shade doing nothing of value and joy riding the park cart. Add a floating dock clean it up add sand to beach and maybe it will be...
