A simply amazing adventure! Picnicked under the beautiful pavilion and were stunned by the surrounding museum quality interpretative signage which answered many of our questions regarding the Mound Builders.
It is apparent by the design of the pavilion, rooftop solar panels, and central diorama of existing and destroyed effigy mounds that programs are presented within. Wish the schedule of presentations was posted.

Read moreHistory and culture are always neat. It's great that places like this have been saved and preserved for us and future generations. There are a handful of info signs at the beginning of the trail (which is a short walk from the parking lot). I feel like the trail could benefit from info signs at a few if the larger mounds. What would be really cool is a raised platform that would allow an elevated view of the park's namesake mound. All in all, a really nice place to stop. Read moreInteresting hike through some grass and gravel trails. Not a long or strenuous walk at all, but not paved. Mounds were very interesting. We downloaded the layout from the state website and we're able to identify the mounds and follow the trails. There are plans to improve the trails, but it is pretty basic at this time. Worth a stop if you would like to see the mounds and take a stroll. Signs are up warning of potential for ticks and poison ivy, so stay on the trails...
