Went for a dinner and a play for the Jimmy Buffett show, four of us were sat down and only 2 salads were at our table. Yet we had 4 table settings. We had to wait quite a while for a waitress to tell her we needed 2 more salads. The 2 menus that were at our table were completely the wrong menu from a previous show. The water they have at the table is tap water and it tastes like it. We went up for the food and they had tiny cheese burgers and they ran out of cheese for the burgers the size of a slider half way through the service so we never got cheese. They had tiny battered fish with no sauce. Dessert time they only brought out 2 desserts and the ice cream was completely melted on the plate. I had to go to the kitchen and request 2 more desserts for the other 2 in our party which were also melted. It is a nice setup but the whole dinner from start to finish was a disaster not to mention the tiny portions you get. Honestly they can do much much better. The show was nice, the people did a great job performing. But if I ever decide to go there again I will be skipping the meal part which for $30 a plate I would expect much much better food than that of...
Read moreI had such a great experience at the Forestburgh Playhouse last year that I bought a season pass this year. That's how much I enjoy this place.
That said, I was disappointed by the sound during Next to Normal. The cast was fantastic. Every performer brought real emotion and strong vocals, and they clearly put their hearts into it. The problem was the sound system.
The audio quality was rough, especially if you're sitting in the first couple of rows. There are small speakers right in front of those seats, and instead of helping, they made everything sound distorted and muddy. I’d avoid those seats if possible until it’s improved.
There were also mic issues throughout the show. A few times the mics didn’t come on right away, so lines were missed. Plus, there was frequent feedback, which was really distracting.
It’s frustrating because the performers were so good, and the sound system didn’t do them justice. I really hope the Playhouse addresses these problems. The actors and the audience deserve a...
