Washington County Grasslands — Attraction in Town of Fort Edward

IMPORTANT INFO TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO! There are D.E.C. restricted access signs in the parking lot saying the preserve is off limits December 1st through April 15th. This would have been nice to know before I woke up at 5:30 this past Sunday to go for some wildlife viewing. Maybe I didn’t look in the right places, but that information wasn’t readily available anywhere online, and the DEC site only said “please look for and respect restricted area signs” once you get there. 5 stars though because this is important habitat for some sensitive owl species and I’m glad it’s being protected.
