When you pull up, this place has a shady vibe from the get-go. We were willing to look past the hot mess of a building and still give it a try. The owner brought us to a very small room in the back of the building where the tasting was held. I’ll admit, the wine he poured us during our tasting was very good. We ended up buying 6 bottles and left. When we got home, we decided to pop open a bottle and it tasted NOTHING like the samples! It tasted like straight vinegar…No exaggeration! We thought it was maybe a fluke so we opened another bottle, and same thing! Disgusting!!! We literally could not drink more than a sip of each bottle. We ended up opening all 6 bottles that day to see if there was an issue with all of them or just some of them, and every single one was absolutely terrible. We tried everything to make them taste even remotely close to the wine at tasting…letting it air out, chilling it…nothing helped. It was clearly not the same wine that was given to us at the tasting. 5 of us tasted each of the bottles and every single one of us agreed it was undrinkable. After that we decided to look up reviews of Sugar Creek and low and behold, MANY others have experienced this same thing! The wine at the tasting was wonderful, you buy some bottles to take home, you open the bottles at home and it tastes absolutely nothing like what you had at the winery! There is obviously something very fishy going on at Sugar Creek Winery, so please beware and reconsider going there!!! Luckily we were able to get our money back from our bank once we told them what had happened. I would give this place 0 stars if that...
Read moreWent to winery on April 20th, 2024 with group of 4 women and driver. Do NOT buy wines from here. He fills your case from around the room selling you spoiled vinegar tasting wines that are not organized by the label but perhaps by the spoil. The tastings are very small not normal tasting portions and probably just fruit juice which hasnt fermented, no buzz after sampling them all. Bought a case for "his deal" price which was still the pricing on the sheet. Bottles were fermented and did contain alcohol, but taste was awful bitter and vinegar like. Don't fall for the bs he tells you. Rip off! Take your money to an honest winery! *updated 01/26/2025 * Wow, nice post from owner and his BS claim of reporting fraud and that I am someone else. Anyone who would like to come and try my potting soil tasting Aronia bottles or vinegar tasting Big Smiles or Campfire wines that I bought from Sugar Creek Winery will taste the truth. Added photos as proof of...
Read moreA hidden gem in WI! We went to the Apple Festival this past weekend and after walking past their booth, I was disappointed when my daughter got tired and needed to go back to the car before I was able to sample a couple of the wines. I sent my husband back on a mission to sample the wines and come back with his favorite bottle… he came back with 6. Tonight we opened two of the bottles to try, Aronia and Twilight, and I am in love! Twilight reminds me of a Cidery we loved in WA that has amazing dessert wines. I find it to be a sweeter wine that was wonderful to slowly sip. Now Aronia on the other hand, I am hesitant to say just how much I enjoyed this one because I can pretty much guarantee we will be making a trip to Ferryville, specifically to pick up another bottle… or three. I now understand why my husband was unable to pick...
