The only reason I am not giving Deer Run Winery one star is because the venue is visually beautiful, had nice warmers for colder weddings, the flexibility with catering, and working with Austyn was great until the day of the wedding. I wanted food trucks and this venue was flexible with whichever catering you wanted and Austyn is the wedding planner that comes with the venue and was great to work with and making sure we had everything leading up to the wedding. The day of the wedding it rained up until an hour of the ceremony. Since it stopped raining I asked for the wedding to be outside because it was my dream since I was young to be married outside and it was perfect timing for the rain to stop. Austyn told me “I had a wedding before and it down poured and all the guests wrote bad reviews” and kept trying to persuade me to have it in the pavilion. I was told her workers would not help move the decorations from the pavilion to the outdoor area so my guests had to move everything before the ceremony. I also asked for the sun shades to be put up since the day before she promised they would be up and I was told it would take hours so they weren't going to put them up. I was also told that I would not get the pricey ceremony space deposit back if we ended up not having the wedding outside so I don’t understand why it was so difficult to have it outside in their space if I already paid for it and was not going to get the money back. The ceremony was then rushed, I was rushed out of the bridal space by the workers who did not tell my photographer that we started so she missed the beginning shots of the wedding. And lastly, this venue threw away the paid property of my wedding cake and cupcakes. If they gave a simple phone call to us, someone would have come and gotten it that second since we paid a decent amount of money for the cake but it was all thrown away. I thought having my wedding here would be the wedding of my dreams by the way Austyn sold the venue but it was chaotic, stressful, and I lost the rest of my wedding cake. I don’t know if it was because my wedding was on a Sunday or because it rained but my thoughts were not being listened to. I see by the reviews I am in the minority but I clearly did not have the experiences others had at this venue. I would have regretted having the ceremony in the pavilion because it did not rain a single drop the whole ceremony and photo...
Read moreI got married at Deer Run Winery and just wanted to share my experience:
"We are so glad that we decided on Deer Run Winery for our wedding! The venue is absolutely beautiful. Their ceremony space is surrounded by a canopy of vines and draped fabric that was not only amazing to stand under, but made for some great photographs. The partially covered outdoor structure, adorned with strings of Edison bulbs, was so spacious and rustic, and it allowed for a great mix of indoor and outdoor vibes. Our guests also had a great time exploring the grounds and enjoying the Winery before the ceremony. The location was very convenient, both for those living in Rochester and family members coming from out of town and finding accommodations. The small pond outdoors, along with the gas firepit, served as an amazing refuge for both us and our guests as we enjoyed a clear view of the night sky against the Lakeville water tower. We found that the dancefloor was a perfect size and layout, and it was great to be able to go from dancing to getting some air outside! The bartenders crushed it! We were able to choose 2 signature cocktails (which our guests raved about) and a generous variety of local, New York craft spirits and beers, along with Deer Run wines. You are able to bring in your own catering, which is a huge plus. The venue offers a cake cutting service and coffee service as well, which were both executed flawlessly. I think the main thing we were thankful for after our special evening was Grace, their coordinator. Grace went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. She asked us questions you don’t even think to ask yourself. She is so knowledgeable and clearly enjoys what she does. It’s like getting a day-of planner for free. She was so kind in letting us drop off décor early, she was incredibly communicative about our seating arrangements and wants, she spoke with our vendors, and she was literally running around all night making sure everything was perfect. I cannot speak highly enough about the professionalism and care she put into our ceremony and reception. Overall, my wife and I highly recommend Deer Run Winery for your wedding day. They will go above and...
Read moreDeer Run was the first and then LAST(!!!) venue I toured, the ceremony space is quite literally perfect as is what I call “the barn” with all the gorgeous bistro lights and the fireplace overlooking the pond. But the venue itself was not the best part of choosing Deer Run. That would be the surprise that came a few months after signing the contract, Molly Harrington, event planner extraordinaire. Molly truly touches the lives of the couples who allow her into their space. Every wedding is a unique conversational attitude, professionalism, and personalized. Molly doesn’t just answer emails and my gazillion text messages about seating chart ideas and the seat at the end of a table (inside joke), she helps you overcome stress, anxiety, and familial problems with ease. Got parents stressing you out about budget or decor or the guest list? Molly Harrington answers the call! Do you wanna talk about timeline month by month? Molly Harrington is there. She helped me make the wedding planning bible of my dreams outlining timelines, guest preferences, playlists, decor, ceremony space usage, everything. The day was perfect, the open bar was the best package you could think of, but I made a friend in the end I would keep for life. I would choose the barn over and over again to recreate the most magical experience I had marrying my husband, but before that I would always choose Molly Harrington wherever she is, wherever she goes. She made Deer Run feel like home, and for that I am grateful. Thank you Molly (Meagher, Eager Beaver) Harrington. And if you choose an open bar, ask for Beki and Kim, those two become family to...
