The building and preserve itself is absolutely beautiful unfortunately the staff is a little under organized making planning an event a little difficult. My husband and I were one of the couples affected by covid during our wedding planning. Originally, we were to get married 5/9/2020 at bubolz but with covid and the world practically shutting down, that was not going to be possible. Bubolz was great with rescheduling us to this year 2021 which was great. This is where the organization issues started coming in. We signed the contract for bubolz back in January 2019. Since then, they have gone through numerous event managers. Our contract that we signed over 2 years ago was misplaced over 3 times. We were receiving emails every couple months asking if we still wanted our date because we haven't paid and that other couples were interested in it, but we paid the total in full back in January of 2019. I was the one who would have to go back and find the contract with the payment on it because they said they didn't have it in a file. Seemed slightly sketchy to me. On top of that, when we originally booked back in 2019, we had also rented a secondary room for me and my girls to get dressed in, also something we already paid for. Again, they said they did not have any proof of that therefor, I'd have to pay for it again. Luckily, I was able to find the original contract that also had that noted and paid for. This whole time, they were telling me that when I booked, I got an extremely discounted rate which I knew I did, but that wasn't my fault that I got that rate, and it seemed like they were trying to get money out of me any way they could for me getting the rate I did. Just to add to it, since we booked the room from 12-3, we could not enter the building until 12 and HAD to be out by 3. So when our photographer wanted to go early and take photos of our dresses or the alter or anything, she could not. When our DJ wanted to come in early to set up so he was prepared, he could not. The only way we could have done that is if we paid a ridiculous amount of money per hour to have them allow that. Again, we ended up having a beautiful ceremony and the best day ever but there was a lot of stress going into the day and I don't want any other couples feeling the way we did. If you choose to plan your wedding here, please document everything and keep those documents until after your wedding. Be very specific in what you want and hold your ground! That day is all about you and your...

Terrible Coordination/Communication, Overcharged, Bad Contract
We are significantly underwhelmed with our experience of getting married at Bubolz Nature Preserve. First off, the venue has gone through three different employees as event managers. This caused a lot of issues with coordination between us and the venue, as you could imagine. Some of our "must have" options, that we had agreed upon with the past employees became a fight for them to happen after new employees took over. I personally had to set-up "the bar", which was really just a folding card table without even a table cloth, and the tables that we had requested. On top of it all, the venue managers are charging us an extra $1,000 for a backup space to the outdoor ceremony, even after discussing that we did not need or want a back-up space with a previous employee. Even though the contact says that we paid an amount "in full", they are still charging us this after the fact, with no mention of it prior.
It is really too bad that such a beautiful place for weddings is mismanaged to such a degree. I only recommend if you are up...
Read moreWe took a family hike on Thanksgiving Day because we were staying home for the holiday do you the pandemic. It was beautiful, a great hike. The only issue we had was that as we were hiking - my husband stepped into a bucket buried into the grass alongside a path. My memory isn’t clear on exactly where we were, but we were walking alongside a path because the path was flooded, and my husband fell into this buried, uncovered bucket, overgrown with grass/weeds so it could not be noticed, and twisted his ankle pretty badly. As we kept hiking, once we knew to look for them, we realized there were several more alongside the path. I’m sure the buckets were put there for a purpose, but I’m kind of concerned about the fact that they were buried with no marker or indicator to warn people to stay away. If one of our kids, or even if I myself had fallen in instead of my 6’2 husband, I’m afraid there could have been a more severe injury.
Other than that one issue though, we love going to Bubolz. It’s beautiful & peaceful and a joy to visit. My kids really like the dirt...
