A lovely, relaxing area. A great place to hike and commune with nature. Way bigger than I was expecting, I should have gotten there much earlier. So many different kinds of birds, but didnt see much else on this trip (a few turtles). The area is very well done and nicely maintained.
They could use a few more signs down the road that seemed to go on forever. There was a bench at one point, but I had no idea how much longer it went on, or where I was compared to where the next attraction was (or if there even was anything else).
Worth visiting.

Read moreVisited here on a Sunday to do some hiking in mid February and the trails were pretty empty. I hiked east from the visitors center on the bike trail to the little Eau Pleine River and the snow was pretty deep. After I reached the river hiked south down to the Four Oaks Marsh and then looped back to the bike path. In total it was about 7 miles of flat terrain. The trails are very nicely maintained and its pretty easy hiking except for some parts that were covered in snow. I came across the survey marker for Sec. 5 T25N R6E.

Read moreThis is a massive wildlife area, with over 30,000 acres of wetlands, forests, and grasslands. There are hundreds of miles of groomed trails. If hiking, fishing, hunting, and the great outdoors is something you enjoy, this is an excellent place.
