Very peaceful and great place to take pictures. Much larger area than I previously thought. Several different trails. Some leading to overlook areas or picnic areas. There's benches in several areas as well. Lots of people there but because the area is so large we didn't run into a ton of people and it was always possible to socially distance. Dogs are allowed on leashes, I just wish more people would pick up after their dogs or at least not leave their poop bags on the ground. It was not pleasant to see a bunch of poop bags piled up at the entrance to the trails. Just shows the lack of respect for others and the environment, in my opinion. There are various species of birds. I was able to spot a Red Bellied Woodpecker, and identified a couple other birds. Lots of other scenes and things that would make good photographs. If you decide to go in the Spring, be sure to wear some sort of waterproof boot as there are some places that are very muddy. I made the mistake of wearing just sneakers and my feet were full of mud and soaked. Summertime is different when things are dried out. This is one of my favorite places to go...
Read moreI love visiting ourlocal conservation area. The serene atmosphere was immediately apparent as I stepped onto the winding trails, surrounded by towering trees and lush greenery. Birdsong filled the air, and the gentle rustling of leaves provided a soothing soundtrack.
The area was teeming with wildlife. I spotted a family of deer grazing in a sunlit meadow, and a curious squirrel scampered up a nearby oak tree. A vibrant array of wildflowers dotted the landscape, adding a splash of color to the scene.
As I continued my walk, I came across a tranquil pond where ducks and geese paddled lazily. I sat on a bench near the water's edge, enjoying the peaceful ambiance and reflecting on the importance of preserving these natural spaces.
It was a truly rejuvenating experience, and I left the conservation area feeling refreshed and...
Read morePerfect place for a quick relaxation and recharge. Very well maintained pathways will make your walk, run or ride safe and clean; for me the Greenport Conservation Area is a sensible compromise between undisturbed nature and convenient access. The highlight of the trail is the scenic lookout to the Hudson river valley. The Park is partially WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE, if you know someone with mobility impairment, this could be a great spot for them to enjoy nature. My most beautiful experiences here are the early morning walks when you can see and hear so many birds flying over the open fields of this former farmland, now reclaimed by nature. Lots of people driving by the trailhead day by day, which is right next to Joslen Blvd, without realizing this stunning, hidden pocket of nature in...
