Hadley Mountain Trailhead Parking Lot has room for about 10-15 cars. It is located off Tower Road, which is a dirt road a little off the beaten path. When the parking lot fills, vehicles will park along the sides of Tower Road. Access from the parking to the Hadley Mountain Trailhead is simple and easy. The trail up the mountain is fairly steep, rugged, and rocky. The path is 1.8 miles and attracts many hikers of all ability levels. The trail was actually an old Jeep road for the fire tower caretaker in the 1950’s. On the way up there are some nice boulders and natural rock formations. The trail is well marked and easy to follow. At the summit of the mountain there is a fire tower that was built in 1917. The fire tower is usually open for climbing and offers a 360° view of the surrounding Adirondack Mountains and Great Sacandaga Lake. If you can’t or don’t want to go up the tower, the views from below the tower are outstanding. There is also a ranger’s cabin near the top which you can take a look at, but not enter on most days. Overall, this is a short challenging hike that delivers a nice...

This is a good mountain that will help you decide whether you are a real hiker or a nature trail type person. I found out I am not a hiker. Trail is mostly rock straight up. There are basically no flat areas to rest on your way up, just one short flat area as you get near the top. My friends once said to me that it is worth it when you get to the top and look out. Those friends are true hikers. For me not having a break and gasping for air all the way to the top did not allow me to just enjoy the scenery on the way up. For me I was constantly looking down at the rocks beneath my feet to make sure I didn't trip and fall. I find I enjoy all the greenery and animals on the trails on the way up rather than just looking our at the top of the mountain and this trail did not...

Great hike & part of the ADK firetower challenge. Amazing views of the southern Adirondacks from the tower. I did this hike in the winter and it was challenging because of the amount of ice. This is likely a very wet trail in streambeds in other seasons. Bring microspikes if attempting in the winter. I'd rate it moderate due to the steepness and amount of ice/rocks. Parking was no problem, and the road was in good condition to get there without having a high clearance vehicle. Tower at the top has a great view and there are lots of spots to see views on the way up. It doesn't really give you much of a break while you climb, so take in the views while catching...

Fantastic little hike thats about 2.1 miles (from what I remember). It is mostly uphill and very little wind so you’ll feel the heat and the moisture of the forest so make sure you bring water, snacks, and good bug spray. The views are awesome though and the fire tower is so cool. Fair warning though for those of you who are wider than the average human, it is a tight fit into the fire tower itself. Im 207lbs and it a little small for me, i had to take off my small backpack and put it up first before climbing through.
