Swede Mountain Fire Tower Trail is an easy hike of two miles. The reward is greater than the effort. When you reach the sturdy rebuilt fire tower, you can climb up five landings to the top where you will be in an enclosed top deck with a roof. The entire structure is galvanized angle iron, unlike the original which was a log structure. A magnificent sweeping view of the mountains of the Southern Adirondacks is your reward. Next to the tower are the ruins of the ranger's quarters who manned the tower. Along the trail in early September are black berry and red rasberry bushes. Also, a variety of flowering plants and mushrooms. At the top of the tower, brisk winds of the high mountains will greet you. You are surrounded by raspberry bushes for so much of the trail. Try to go when in season. Note that you are in the sun quite a bit. Lovely trail, easy walking, not too steep.    Read moreIt's alright. Very short and gets pretty muddy in spots at basically all times of the year. It does have a fire tower that's taller than most with a pretty good view for how short of a hike it is. If there was a 3.5 stars option I would choose that. It's not great, it's not bad, it's okay. Worth seeing...
