Such a solid 5 ⭐️ experience in my opinion. I mean your literally having to pick your lower jaw up every 5 minutes from the constant “WOW!!” thats is constant and around every corner. If you love insane rock formations that make you feel like your on a completely different planet, or where they shot “Lord of the Rings.” Along with trees that have interwoven into the rocks that twist & turn like a huge spider webs that gives off this very unique and bizarre ambience.
The thing that made me really love this place is at human hands have never interfered, changed or modified this incredible wonder of nature. And another very rare and cool feature is that this whole place has an “open free world” rule. This means that not an inch of this place is off-limits!! You can explore, investigate, go spelunking, rock climb anything & everything, go off trail, enter caves, crevices, cracks, etc. And there’s enough to get lost in for weeks. A staff member, Jonathan (one of the coolest guys you’ll ever meet) will break down and answer anything re: this place. And he will sit there and chat it up with you for as long as you desire. Panama Rocks is lucky to have something there that is as passionate as him.
I saw young kids there, their grandparents, adolescents, teenagers, whole families, etc. even if you don’t care for what I wrote so far you will still have a blast. It’s just so cool how it’s not only pleasing to the eye, but interactive as well if you choose.
This place not only met my expectations (which were very high based on the pics others posted) but far exceeded them as well.
The best part is …. ADMISSION IS ONLY $8!!! I almost felt like I was ripping them off. I can’t be more thankful than to have accidentally stumbled across this place.
Thanks Jonathan!! Keep up...
Read morePanama Rocks is one of the best, most beautiful places on the face of the planet today! It is a privilege to be able to spend a quiet afternoon walking the trail and listening to the birds' songs while examining the local trees, wildflowers, mushrooms, and wildlife; marveling at the tranquil moss-covered boulders that have anchored this spot since ancient times. The sense of ponderous history permeates the air, suggesting there could be a dinosaur just around the next bend, or possibly a magic wand resting on the next smooth gray natural altar. There is no finer place to hike, then stop for an open-air picnic of fresh fruit, crusty bread with New York Extra Sharp Cheddar cheese wedges, and icy lemonade. After a couple chapters from the current book, or several passages from a treasury of favorite poetry, the reader will emerge again into the serene aura of Panama Rocks with a renewed sense of spirit. The hike out, similar to the hike in, will afford numerous possibilities for exploring mysterious cracks, interesting crevices, even cave-like features; presenting the challenge of capturing these features in the mind and for posterity. Truly a location worthy of visit after visit, each time discovering a different facet of the landscape, but always rewarded with the same sense of peace and calm.
If you have never visited, you are in for an amazing treat. If you have not visited recently, now is a good time to plan your next adventure. There are two Geocaches at the Park, if you need another reason to go! They even sell season passes, so you can visit several times throughout the Spring, Summer, and Fall to see the seasonal changes as...
Read morePanama rocks is part of an ancient ocean and if you live in Western New York guess what , You're not underwater anymore, but you used to be . A great way to eat up a couple hours . Been at least 30 years since I was last here and it's still awesome! It's basically a 1 mi loop with a lot of interesting rocks and crevices and things you can walk through and under and on top of - a maze of sorts. The rock formations here are similarly what is found at Rock City. FYI . And it's impossible for pictures to convey the size and scope of the environment. It's an experience you just have to live. There's also this natural air conditioning all over here, that flows out of the caves and if you get close to one of the crevices or openings you can feel the cool air blow at you. We were there on a hot day and it certainly was an interesting feature. At one particular spot I got into a hole a bit and I literally felt like I almost got into a refrigerator. It's a bit of a drive from Buffalo but well worth it and great exercise. It's very exciting and also can be dangerous so you want to be careful. I think it's generally good for most families. at the front where you register they have a large shop with a lot of really...
