(If you can find it, please read my previous "review".) LEASH LAWS and DEAR FIDO. I'd like to add a few things to what I've previously written. The other day I go to my usual spot way off to one side, and in doing so I pass various little "coves" as I call 'em. First come, first served, that's how it is and should be. But in one of these were three young ladies ... and their overly-protective dog. I was charged by this dog, teeth out and barking. I know what to do --- stop, relax, make minimum eye contact, etc. BUT HAD I BEEN SOMEONE ELSE, there could have been a BIG problem, ladies. I could have been small kid. I could have been some drunk with a weapon. Or worse. I am none of that, but hey everybody, can we PLEASE keep the Redneck Riviera a happy place by keeping YOUR Fido on a leash? Please, people. Be a good dog owner on our happy little...
Read moreKnown locally with a wink and a nod as the locals' "Redneck Riviera," it's a nice enough place, with shady spots, sunny spots, plenty of sand, and a very shallow swimming area. It does eventually drop off, depthwise, but one does have to walk (or swim, or float) a distance to find water that's over an adult's head. This is seen as a plus for younger swimmers and their caretakers. There are no bathroom or changing facilities. There's no food service --- or anything nearby for any of those. Picnicking is okay if you clean up afterwards -- no trash cans/ dumpsters either. Carry it in, carry it out! Glass bottles prohibited. Yes, parking area --- dirt/gravel/somewhat small. Short woodsy walk. Beach area can be crowded, noisy, especially on weekends. Dogs allowed but on / with...
Read moreWhether you are looking for a sunrise canoe across the sparkling water, an afternoon swim, or a relaxing place to escape the summer tourists, Lake Clear has something for everyone. The main beach area offers a place for families to swim, play, and picnic together. If you are looking for a quieter spot to relax in solitude, walk down the narrow path to find small pockets of beach spread out across the shoreline. The water is some of the warmest in the Adirondacks and it is shallow for a good distance out. Dogs can also enjoy this beach. Be respectful when visiting and remember to pack out what...
