I love the park itself and the staff. However I was highly disappointed because quiet time was at 10 p.m. and the park never enforced it. The campers next to me were rude enough to start shooting fireworks off out in the middle of the street inside the campground at ten-thirty at night. It was very dangerous. So then the next night a family pulled into the campgrounds with their group of children at eleven-thirty at night and they let their children stay outside and play until about 1 in the morning. After that situation I was so mad about not getting sleep for the last two nights that I left my camp reservation early. I have been a camper for many many years and I have never experienced this level of rudeness at any place I've ever camped at. And I have been a full-time camper for the last 7 years. On this particular trip I had been on a 3-week adventure traveling the New England States. This campground in upstate New York was my last stop before I headed back home. I don't know I guess I'm just an old fuddy-duddy because I think having to listen to families using the f word in every sentence and verbally fighting amongst themselves should be a cause for them to be asked to leave the park. You would think they would at least take it inside their camper and not sit outside where everyone in the campground is victimized by listening to the verbal abuse. It's a shame that camp grounds have to babysit their campers because it appears that integrity and common Sense are just about nonexistent. Oh yeah there was also someone in the campground who kept going into the ladies bathrooms and clogging the toilets and making them overflow. So on two of the days the bathrooms literally had poop mush covering the floors. They even went underneath the stalls and locked several of the doors so the bathrooms couldn't be used as a joke. For health reasons I would have thought that the rangers would have went around and gave everybody a written notice that if it happened again they would make everyone leave the park for health reasons. After all if somebody poops in a swimming pool that make...
Read moreFirst time visiting Wescott Beach State Park and only stayed for the weekend. I really loved the park, workers are very friendly and are constantly cleaning the area including bathrooms/washrooms which is a huge plus. We enjoyed the "beach" thats in the campground area, it's very shallow with no lifeguards. So I don't think it's a actual designated Beach area but it's a very nice area, people had floaties, water toys, & dogs in the water overall a great atmosphere. We did checkout the real beach and that looked very nice as well and plenty of lifeguards but didn't actually swim in it as my youngest really loved the other "beach" and ask if we could just go to that one instead. Our campsite was huge plenty of space. Now for the cons, check in took very long as only one person was working and she had to constantly stop to check vehicles pulling in for tags or take fee for daily entrance. She was very nice and did apologize everytime but it definitely wasn't ideal. The other issue we had as it had rained the night before as well as when we stayed and our site with many others were muddy messes and flooded, I would think they would have some sort of drainage solution for this to run the water off the sites but they don't and most campers we spoke to said it's a regular issue here. Which is a shame because we would have loved to explore more but everything was just a muddy watery mess. The dumpsters aren't conveniently located either, they are just in one area by boat launch. Over all its a beautiful campground, if your a tent camper be careful as water just pools on the sites. I don't think I would book this campground ahead of time again, I think I would wait to try and book during non rain weather to avoid the flooding, but would come back in non...
Read moreBesides the beautiful views and awesome landscaping, this was one of the worst experiences I've had in any state park. Don't plan on doing anything fun because you will get shut down by an old couple that stays year round with others as well that help them supervise the plateau loop which is illegal. Me and my family stayed at the park in the plateau loop for a week and consistently we got ridiculed for the smallest things and you can't make a peep or have fun after dark. If you have dogs don't bring them because they will just send complaints in everyday saying they're too noisy and if you want to camp in the plateau loop don't take the sites near the site listed as a "water runoff site" because that is booked year round by the people mentioned previously and they will just turn your vacation into a boring nightmare, and don't leave any campfire wood for the next campers because they just take that too. So all in all the park itself is beautiful and pleasant but the staff and the staff allowed to stay there as long as they want is a lot less than desirable and not...
