My friend and I hiked this mountain just to get a view of New York City. Is the hike worth it? Yes, it is. Can you drive to the top of the mountain? Yes, you can.

I suggest the hike. There are various trails to get to the top, so pick the one that fits your fitness level. There are details available to help you choose wisely. If you happen to have any issues along the way, there are guides up and down the mountain who will stop to assist you.

This is a fabulous place to get away from the busy, busting, urban NYC sprawl! From Queens via the Tappan Zee (Mario Cuomo) Bridge, it's a brisk, enjoyable 1-hr. drive with good views. Arrive early to ensure parking, which is $10 per vehicle. Once there, enjoy a wide range of hiking trails, from an easy, level stroll around the lake to strenuous...

My advice; park at Hessian Lake and walk up...fantastic! Been here about 5 times over the years and the views from the top are breath taking. You can even see New York City from here. Take loads of water and a picnic, you won't regret it! Check out the observation tower too while you're here, it's...
