The Poultry Hatchery (Catch a Torii Farms) — Attraction in Town of Hopewell

I ordered golden laced wyandottes, golden comets, silver laced wyandottes, buff orpington, and cherry eggers. A total of 19/20 chicks. I received a call back stating that they didn't have the cherry eggers but could replace them with a suitable replacement which were the cinnamon queens. My original pick up date was for April 11th, however, they were not all hatched. Was I frustrated to be put off by two days? Yes. But not at the owners. More with mother nature lol. But that is just it, we can't speed up mother nature. I was more upset that I didn't get follow up calls when I was told I would. I ended up calling back each time. But it's definitely not something that I would stop me from ordering again from this company. Jeff was great explaining everything to me. He didn't need to tell me how behind they were. This family lost 117,000 eggs from a storm that was BEYOND their control. It set them back. Reading some of the comments on here regarding the companies Christianity is heart breaking to say the least. These people have been answering hundreds of phone calls from people daily and having to explain to them how they are behind. Throwing in their faith and mocking them, slandering them because your orders are behind is not a Christian thing to do either. How dare you!! I am curious to know how big the orders were that you threw such a fuss about. I drove over two hours to pick up my order...well worth it. This is not the first time I have ordered from this family albeit it was through my sister in law, this time i took the reins. This is just the first time that there was such a delay. Yet it won't be the last time I deal with them. Mother nature...she sure can be brutal!! Before you throw someone's faith in their faces, perhaps you should clean your own closets first. You remind me of the ladies at church that saw me for the first time in months and saw my hair was purple. It's purple to honor my husband who is a stage 4 Hodgkins survivor.... Those ladies sure felt guilty after I politely explained to them that saying those mean comments about my hair wasn't the right thing to do in front of my 7 year old daughter especially when she could have lost her daddy!! Shame on you for faith shaming! I would like to see you run the business they do and follow the guidelines. If you think it's so easy, do it yourself. Thank you Poultry Hatchery for explaining to me in length your process allowing me to keep an open mind making it easier to understand your situation. Thank you for a job well done. Keep that faith alive and keep doing what you do best!...

Pretends to be a Christian to get more business, but there is no way someone that unscrupulous truly is. Pretty sure this whole place is run by one very rude guy. While calling to get updates about my order (local pickup was a HUGE mistake) the guy was obviously overwhelmed since he messed up his hatch and everything was running late. However, this is no excuse to be rude to a customer and start YELLING at them. He was nasty from when he answered. All I did was ask a few questions (called at 9, told to call back at 1... then 2... You get the idea) and eventually tell them that I wanted to cancel my order after he was so rude on an earlier call. He tells me that no one was rude (it's the same guy every time I have called) and there is a 20% restocking fee. A 20% fee to cancel birds they don't have, that I drove 2.5 hours for. Then he yells, tells me to call back again and HANGS UP ON ME. The place where you pick up your birds is also really sketchy. I'd honestly be very surprised if this is a legit hatchery that raises their own birds. Most unprofessional people ever with a broken website that he claims he's already put 250,000 dollars into... No wonder he can't run a business properly!

UPDATE: So, apparently according to the owner of this "business" I'm a GUY named Greg? I'm the lady you yelled when I asked for a full refund after you were very rude to me on the phone. You also hung up on me. I also had asked if you knew when your website would be up and running and your reply was "Yes. (long silence) When it's done." Your ratings are being driven down because you are routinely rude to customers when you are over-stressed. I understand that running a company is stressful and sometimes things go wrong. Like I said, that is no reason to be rude and hang up on a customer for asking questions about an order they had already paid you for. Here's the thing, had you been respectful and honest to me on the phone the day of my scheduled pick up, this review would not be here. Even if you had said you were stressed and had apologized, instead of denying any wrongdoing, I would have understood and again, this review would not be here. Instead of trying to say all your reviews are from one phantom bad guy, I hope you decide to be more productive and work on your customer service skills when you are under stress or hire people...

update For those of you coming on here stating very clearly your close partnerships with the owner and then proceeding to name call and threatening MY HAIR BUSINESS due to my personal experience working with him.... Did you ever for a second think maybe you are making him and his business look even worse? Like I feel like I must warn you that the way YOU are acting and stating you work with him isn't a good look for the owner either. You all have made yourselves and your businesses look extremely unprofessional. I will no longer be responding, but just remember; the more you comment, the more traffic this post will get and the more people will see how you all behave around criticism. Unreal.* It has been so long I feel like I finally need to ask… Has anyone else had a really hard time actually getting their order fulfilled with Catch-a-Torii Farms? Or is it just me? is it almost impossible to hatch salmon favorelles? Like if that's the case then ok... but I placed my order the first week of February. Was told pick up time was Feb 28th.... I didn't have a large order so maybe that's why I'm being disregarded but my main goal was to shop local... now I'm practically being ghosted majority of the time or told they're not ready.... it's literally almost Easter now. I was patient and polite. I finally got part of my order 3 weeks ago now almost to the date. I was told probably next week I'd be able to pick up my Salmons and then I was ghosted again for 3 weeks until I commented on their Facebook post about another big hatch they've had... I texted asking about my order and told no again. I'm trying to get then integrated with my 3 week olds now and don't have much time left.... and now that I have some babies I can't jusy go and buy 6 somewhere else... I asked if possibly I could at least have an estimate just to be ghosted again. I'm really struggling to understand how this can still be... does anyone have any sort of insight?
