About all I can say about this park is quite simple. We were visiting Long Island from NJ & VA. We just ate dinner at the Purple Elephant (absolute yum, BTW) and my SIL says this would be a nice place to watch the sunset. Wow!!!!! Gorgeous!!! IDK when we'll be back but if you live there, you've got quite the gemstone...

The beach is rocky, but the water is usually calm. There are no huge waves like the South Shore. Good luck if you want to walk barefoot on the beach. This is technically a senior citizens' beach, so expect a mellow atmosphere

Parking lot is big. Need a permit or can pay a day rate. Apply online for permit. Water didn’t open til nearly 11:30 for some reason. Very rocky shore. Suggest wearing water shoes.

I'm perplexed that everyone likes this dumpy little beach. It has very little to offer and $30 day pass is obscenely overpriced. How can the town demand that with a straight face? Huntington rakes park users over the coals for access to these measly waveless stretches of pebbles, permeated with sand flies, and distinguished from the rest of the LI coast solely by the fact that they're not private property. CA, in contrast, charges $10 or less for some of the most spectacular beaches in the country and are far more pleasurable to visit. The coasts of the great lakes far surpass these pathetic...

This park is set back into a wooded nook near the centerport beach. I was impressed with the amount of green space today. It can be rented for private parties, and alcohol permits can be obtained. There's a playground, and a sand volleyball court that is in need of some TLC too (major weeding and grounds maintenance required!). Overall, nice but there are better public areas in the Northport-East...
