The trains and layouts are great, the owner, Buck, is the best part of the place. A fantastic story teller and has a ton of stories. Trains have been a part of his family seemingly since trains were a thing. Buck is the ultimate tinkerer and builds most of what you see himself. There's hundreds of little details you probably wouldn't ever see unless he pointed them out to you. Look over each set 5 times and you still haven't noticed everything. My youngest son just turned 3 and is obsessed with trains. We spent 3 hours there and he never got bored. His favorite part was the buttons that are set up for kids to interact with the trains and other functions in the layouts. While normally toy train layouts are for looking and not touching...the buttons Buck has implemented make his layouts interactive. An example of Buck's ingenuity is the way he turns on his layouts. Most of them(maybe all?) Are connected to microwave timers. Punch in 30 minutes on the timer...hit start, and the layout comes to life. At the end of the timer, it shuts down. I may be a bit biased...Buck and my father worked together on the railroad most of my childhood. We will definitely be going back. Thank you for the hospitality and stories of my father, Buck. See...
Read moreOverall, we liked it. But make a mistake of bringing a toddler and the man made a rude comment to my wife. It was my baby's birthday My kid turned 2 years old and was curious and touched a train and derailed it on accident. they seemed to be cool but at the end were quite unpleasant. We also apologized both for the incident for our 2-year-old baby whose birthday it was today, and we wanted the day to be special, but these people ruined the experience. Stay away it's not worth the money or rude treatment.
We recommend owners put age limit for kids or kid proof the place so they can’t reach trains and grab them. treat your customers nicely and respond to reviews in a more professional manner not attacking one’s kids...
Read moreLovingly created and cared for, we can't say enough about this attraction. Your children will love pushing the buttons and watching things move; mine did, and they are 56, 20 and 17. :-) The owner/artist is your host. He tells stories of making the scenery for his trains, with many items cunningly created from recycled materials. He is, himself, a retired train engineer and speaks with personal knowledge. There are kites 'flying' in one tableau, cars on a racetrack in another, and a jug band playing under a mountain in a third. The whole place is like a life-sized "I-Spy" book. Don't expect slick city-style stuff, but the good, honest, detailed craftsmanship will knock you off...
