Big parking lot, no gate, pay is honor system. Paved decent down to the beach that splits into two trails, one just a ridge along with lake over to the waterfall. It's ultimately fenced off with no view but there is a steep rocky stair decent. The other trail is gentle, partially rock/extremely coarse gravel, then mowed field to another split trail. One will take you to one side of the waterfall base, the other crossed a bridge and you can go up to the other side. From the parking lot, the trail there and back might be a mile. Private land is on the far side of the waterfall so it's really not an area with multiple trails to hike. If it wasn't for the coarse rock, I'd say it'd even be suitable for strollers. We picked it because my mom needed an easy walk and my sister wanted a waterfall. The falls were impressive for southern WI in a relatively dry fall. Didn't try to swim--the waterfall stream seems to be a different supply from Lake Redstone, but I could be wrong. Appeared cloudy/muddy. Dogs aren't supposed to be at the beach, but it wasn't posted no dogs...
Read moreNice park and trail to walk on. It's a good area to head to since there are several other trails nearby. It's a bit of a walk to get to the waterfall and the trail stops well short of it. Elderly or reduced mobility folks should be warned that this is probably not a good choice. The path itself is decent, running along a creek. Once you get to the "end of trail" sign, you're on your own. Some of it is easy enough, just following ruts where others have gone, but most of it is stepping over rocks, trying not to fall into the water. Wear shoes that grip, or just wear waterproof ones. The glen is beautiful with lush overgrowth and dripping water. The waterfall isn't very big or impressive, but it's...
Read moreThis waterfall is merely the spillway for the dike that makes Lake Redstone. It is not a separate park. The real park for the lake is Lake Redstone County Park. Lake Redstone County Park has parking, restrooms, a beach, a few picnic tables. No dogs allowed. From the park, you can walk across the top of the dike and down a steep treacherous rocky path to see the spillway waterfall. Due to loose rock behind the falls, there is no longer access to the falls itself. The spillway is pretty and refreshing, but it is not maintained as an...
