Been going here for years, love the sites, very peaceful especially during the week and at night. My only complaint was, that this time an employee came down while we were still setting up our tent and canopy and told us that we needed to put all our totes and coolers away even though we had no food out in the open, and we had to tie our dog up. When I politely explained we had the dog secured with an electric collar and an invisible fence (that we set up first). The employee rudely stated that he didn't care! I understand that there is an increasing bear problem and that food can not be left out and animals need to be secured but 30-40 minutes is an unreasonable amount of time to set up a whole camp and he was just plain miserable. Meanwhile the people next to us were singing through a karaoke speaker and feeding the ducks in their camp leaving bread out...

I made the mistake of coming here for my birthday with a group of about 10. We had 3 camp sites. THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO PARTY/HAVE FUN. Everyone there was in there late 60's with their motor-homes trying to get "some peace and quiet." definitely wouldn't have chosen to come here if i knew it was a senior citizens campground. They are very strict with their quiet hours and my group was told that we should have been kicked out the first night for noise complaints and if we are making too much noise again (and i quote) "drunk or not you will be forced to leave." We kept to our tent sites the entire time and the other days we were on a boat outside of the campsite, the people here deserve no stars but the lake is beautiful which is their only beacon of hope.

Read moreBeen coming up from NJ for the past 25 years and I can honestly say this is one of the best spots to camp on the East and spend some time relaxing. Highly recommend laying on the beach at night and watching the shooting stars and satellites fly by...
Town is nearby if you need it, boat rentals right across the main "highway" (they will also deliver to Moffitt if you have a 3 day+ rental). Pretty good restaurants in town to grab a beer and get WiFi, tons to do if you venture out far enough from the campgrounds from golfing to float plane tours to great hiking. If you have your own kayak or canoe there are tons of great rivers, streams and lakes to explore.
I cant wait to have kids of my own to bring up there and keep the tradition going for as long as...
