Great preserve that I visit all the time. The trails are marked and easy to follow. Most of the loop is well maintained, but can get pretty muddy with with wet weather, so plan accordingly. The main attractions are the waterfall and cliff view. Both are gorgeous and worth the short hike. There is some elevation in the trails, but the hike is pretty straightforward other than that.
The preserve is open for most of the year, but does close for hunting season. Be sure to check the website if visiting around then. There's a small parking lot, but there's a wide road that works for overflow parking. It doesn't get very busy there, so that's never gotten in the way of enjoying...
   Read moreConfirming that the trail was open when I went in October 2024, since the most recent review back in February showed it was closed. Nice shorter local hike with great views of Cayuga and free parking. Shame the waterfall trail takes you to the top of it, and I didn't see a way from the official trails to get a better view. Seems like it's either changed over the years, or some of the pictures you see posted here were taken way off trail. Mostly flat, but there's some elevation change in parts. Couple options for trails, but the lake view trail was the star for me....
   Read moreBeautiful trails that are maintained pretty well and are mostly flat. You can take one that gives you a great view of a small gorge. There is also some pretty good views of the lake as well.
Depending on which trails you take, this could be a 15-60 minute walk/hike.
Just beware that this area occasionally will be closed by Cornell for various reasons. If so, don’t sweat, there is another trail about a mile or so up the road that is quiet...
