My 6 year old granddaughter really loved it. I am rating it based on my personal experience though. We arrived at 930 to catch the 10am departure. Went to use the restrooms and there was no toilet paper and the paper towel dispenser was broken. Not a great first impression. The train ride was fun. Upon arrival we went to the museum which is self guided and interesting. The animals there to pet were friendly and ready for treats. I was quite disappointed with the gift shop. I thought it would have more train memorabilia. They also were very short supplied on clothing items to purchase. T shirts, etc... They were out of a number of sizes. Then we were going to get lunch before we headed back on the train. There is no restaurant there. I don't know if I misunderstood, or just thought I read that there was... But it's a place to basically get chips, candy, soda or pizza. A tiny bag of chips was $1.50. We didn't eat there. Caught the train back around 12:30, had to stop to put out a fire on the side of the tracks. Started up again but had to back up and go back because another fire had started. They seemed to have it under control and no one got excited about it. Apparently it's something that can and does happen on occasion. Overall from an adult perspective, I give it a 3. I also think they could put a little effort into fixing up a few things. A little paint goes a long way. As for my granddaughter, she rates it a 5 and just told me again how much...
Read moreThe train ride and camp museum were great. I enjoy looking at things from the past and whatnot. However, the concession stand (or Choo Choo Cafe)where to begin with that... it's frustrating that prices aren't listed on the board, but I understand why, because they are ridiculous and most people wouldn't buy things then. They did not have the things that the website says they serve, not even close. We ordered 2 pizzas and it took almost an hour to get them. I really wonder if they were cooking them 1 at a time as the first pizza was gone by the time the 2nd pizza was brought out. I try really hard to see the positive side of things, but the Cafe needs a lot of work and I really do think the prices need adjusted. $1.50 for a bag of chips that probably said "not for individual sale" (had I looked) still has me irritated. Overall, I would go again, but I'd pack my own...
