Empire Dragway — Attraction in Town of Leicester

Update: I decided to go back to Empire again this year (2019). It's much improved and I was able to make as many passes as I wanted to on a T&T night. Gerry and his wife were very nice to deal with as always. They have my support again!

I give Jerry a lot of credit for improving the track. Unfortunately not only is the track run poorly (went there for TT one night and got 3 passes in 5 hours with less than 100 cars there!) but now he has decided to make it an 1/8 mile track. I understand they cannot control the weather, but after being delayed into the early afternoon and then again all night until 8pm, they should have just called a rain date. After finally starting past 830, a handful of cars went. Then they noticed a mechanical error with the timing machines and after stalling for another half hour, they finally (10pm) stated there was a rain date tomorrow. Affordable for open pit area, Lancaster used to charge for pit pass. They are trying to make updates and were very considerate with regard to handicap folks. One of the drivers, Andy g., offered my grandson the opportunity to sit in his 4.70 car, strapped him in, offered us water later in the day, made the day for my grandson, he said that was better than meeting the street outlaws, who were very gracious, most of the folks were really out to make a good time for all.
