Newport is a unique park in the state system. All of the campus options are remote - requiring a hike in of 0.25 to 1 mile. Each campsite has a bear box, fure ring and primitive toilet. There are not a lot of miles of Trail-- perhaps 8-10 miles total) but they are all very nice trails. There’s also a small sandy beach available there. The day we were there there was also someone giving an educational tour about trees.
