This is a major hidden gem that we only just discovered after 5+ years of visiting wineries on Seneca Lake. It is a pretty tiny place (4 tasting tables inside) but if you are after some of the best red wine to be found on Seneca Lake, you have to check it out. Their slogan is "red is all we do", and this focus really allows Shalestone to create some amazing wines. People who think that no one makes good red wine in the Finger Lakes have always been wrong, but Shalestone in particular blows this misconception up. Shalestone (along with Steve Shaw) stands head and shoulders above the red wine competition on Seneca Lake. Everything we tasted was excellent, but some particular favorites were the Zweigelt, Pinot Noir, and Saperavi.

Loved the personalized tasting we received. Excellent wines that are smooth full bodied reds. Loved the cab franc and the lagrein.

If you like red wine, this is the place to come in the Finger Lakes. Welcoming staff and nice tasting room. They are dog friendly!

Incredible wine, but not an incredible experience. Compared to our other experiences at wineries in the finger lakes we were very thrown off. We were paired with a server who did not even make any eye contact upon entering the winery, as well as no explanations upon pouring each wine for the tasting. It felt like he did not want to be there or care to serve the customers at all. Fortunately, the woman working was extremely friendly, and asked us questions about who we were, along with giving us a description about each wine and fully answering our questions. Again, we absolutely loved the wine but were disappointed In the experience and...

Visited winery today for the first time. We (Wife and I) are dry red wine drinkers and Shalestone seemed to be a logical place to try. The owner's daughter served our wine and explained each one. She was extremely knowledgeable about the wine, the process that led to a particular wine type and Finger Lakes Wines in general. Had a great time and came home with wine for enjoying later! All (seven) of our samples were nicely balanced and could accompany a variety of foods or enjoyed on their own. Highly recommend! Limited in size so make...
