Well I’m new to the area and thought I’d come check the place out. The only friend I have near by was hurt and couldn’t come so I went solo. I’ve been to much larger and better hills but for the price it isn’t too terrible of a place to go. There’s a little variety but not many features so after an hour or two you’ve seen it all. The terrain park wasn’t open for the first half of the day. Finally it opened and I went. I was minding myself and checking out what the features were before bombing at them. Then randomly while I’m at the bottom to get towed back up they shut the lift down. Two kids were there and tell me they’ve done it before. So I had to hike all the way back up to the top. There was a group of people staring at me. Whatever I thought and went back to the main hill. Right away I notice they turn it back on after I leave. Hmmm fishy I thought. Since I was alone I had my headphones in and my music up to be in my own flow and world. Nothing wrong with that right? I turned my headphones down and started to wonder why. Only to get down the main lifts and hear the workers saying it’s my music and they want me to leave. Seriously it was every time I went to go back up on any lift. I was disgusted. They thought I couldn’t hear them but little did they know. They were making comment after comment. I was there for 9 hours and tired. If there was anyone who looked like they were trying to hurry back up I’d kindly say go ahead. Especially to a little kid. When I was a kid I killed to go as many times as I could. Now this didn’t happen every time but it did a couple. Apparently that became an issue. They started saying I’m weird and only let little kids go and that I’m some kind of creeper. This set me off and I wanted to tell them off and call them every name in the book. I didn’t. I thought to myself that any single one of them could’ve stopped me and asked me to turn down my music or ask anything! Whatever was bothering them. They didn’t. They all handled it completely wrong and I let them think whatever they wanted as I showed them I wasn’t going to leave to prove a point. I would love to say I’d never go back but I’m going to just to p*ss these people off again. I don’t recommend the place to anyone who wants to enjoy riding themselves because you will be judged apparently. Only god can judge us and they sure will all face what they’ve done. I truly am hurt inside. I’m a good hearted person that tries to do for anyone but would rather keep to myself because of people like this. Horrible staff service if you ask me. I never in my time of snowboarding have been treated this way anywhere. I hope anyone who reads this decides to go to alpine...
Read moreThis happened in 2018 so hopefully a lot has changed since then but since it’s coming up on the anniversary, it’s fresh in my brain. Unfortunately, we had a VERY traumatic experience here and although I know I should have posted years ago, I still think it’s relevant. My husband and I brought our three children (8, 12, & 14) here for the weekend. We got them lessons while hubby and I went skiing. We had a fun morning, had lunch at the chalet and then my husband headed back out on the slopes with our 8 year old and 14 year old. Next thing I see is my husband putting his skis in an x by my child who had fallen. I go running, jump on the lift and get to them to see my 8 year olds leg contorted in a way it shouldn’t be. He had tried to “pizza” and his ski got stuck but his bindings were not set correctly. As he tumbled, his ski stayed put. Ski patrol showed up and got him down the hill and into the triage bay but I had to tell them how to get his leg stabilized. (Thankfully, I worked for an orthopedic surgeon.) Once down in the bay, he’s screaming and they were more concerned about trying to save his “nice bibs” than his pain level. They were trying to pull his clothes off! I yelled at them to cut them off and they continued to assure me they “could get them off without cutting them”. I finally yelled at the woman in charge and told her if she didn’t cut them off I’d do it myself. They kept trying to see what was wrong with his leg, and moving him around although there was a very clear point where his bone was about to break through the skin becoming an open fracture. He was in so much pain I finally had to step in and tell them to stop everything until EMS got there. EMS arrived and told them to step back, started an IV and he was finally getting some pain meds and relief. We were transferred to Milwaukee Childrens by ambulance and he had to have emergency surgery for a spiral fracture of his femur. The whole situation could have been avoided if the binding settings were correct. Our in-laws were with our toddler at the hotel, I had to leave the hospital that night to go back, pack everything up since we were checking out the next day. We had to get another hotel near the hospital, and were there for 4 days before traveling home to the Chicagoland area. Not once did the resort or anyone from Grande Geneva reache out out to us. We will...
Read moreIf you are trying teach your kids to ski or snowboard don’t come here. All lessons were full but wanted to get my kids on the slopes. Paid lift tickets and snowboard rentals for my kids and wife. ($200+) Took my kids to the bunny hill with the magic carpet. I decided not to strap in to my board because my 5 year old really needed a lot of attention and I couldn’t do it with my board. First couple time I rode with my daughter up the magic carpet. She was falling everywhere and figured I’d be able to help keep her up along with other parents. Was told by the lift attendant that I can’t ride without my board. I didn’t quite understand why that wasn’t allowed so I obliged and helped load my daughter on the carpet and walked up the side. Did this for a couple hours past multiple employees until some rude ski patrol guy said I wasn’t allowed on the hill without a snowboard. I explained to him what I was doing along with another handful of parents. I asked what I was supposed to be do. He said pay for a lesson very rudely, I told him there were none available. The guy basically booted all the parents who were helping, even though most paid for lift tickets. I strapped in and tried to help but now the magic carpet stopped every minute or so because all the kids were falling because they didn’t have help getting help on and off. Good news is my kids loved snowboarding I will be taking them to Wilmot for lessons and not deal with the...
