Beaver Lake Nature Center is an absolutely amazing place to visit year round! The nature trails are absouletly amazing and peaceful! The guides are wonderful and incredibly knowledgeable. Bring lunch or a snack and enjoy it by the picturesque water or in the large covered pavilion. I found a new love for snowshoeing at Beaver Lake. They rent the shoes right there for a small fee and again have knowledgeable staff to help you with sizing and tips. There are many things to do and see inside. There is a help desk and a gift shop. There is a large area too where you can have some piece and quiet while enjoying beautiful views. While Beaver Lake has tons of activities year round (that are all equally enjoyable), our family favorite is Enchanted Beaver Lake. Parking passes sell out fast. They have thousands of intricately carved pumpkins lining the trails and all over the grounds! Enjoy food, fortune tellers, magic shows and nature in this perfect and magical Halloween event! Beaver Lake Nature center offers memberships with tons of perks as well. The cost is low and totally worth it with...
Read moreAmple parking, you pay $5 when you leave to park. They have lots of different trails to walk. Shorter trails and some longer ones. Lots of shade on most of the trails which keeps you cooler while walking/ hiking them. Family friendly aswell which is nice. The nature center has a spot where you can watch birds inside. We saw lots yellow finches & cardinals at the bird watch area in the nature center. Plenty of different benches available to sit while walking the trails which was nice. We even got to see a baby deer . It was laying near one of the walking trails. So one of the workers helped to guide it towards a part of the woods close by that didn't have alot of hikers. They have a smell, touch, taste ,see area near the nature center for patrons. A little frog pond aswell.A gift shop is also located inside the nature center. You can even rent kayaks I believe on the weekends at certain times of the year . Nice place to hike and have a picnic by yourself or with family. No bikes are allowed...
Read moreBeautiful lake and easy to navigate for novice hikers. Some beautiful fruit and berry trees, ferns, and the arboretum is quite impressive. I rarely am able to identify any tree except, like, a palm tree or a redwood tree. So it was very educational and the scaxenger hunt was fun. We found everything except on the list to find except a squirrel, oddly enough. Only negative is that many parts of the trails look like they haven't been maintained or even at all protected in any real way. I know this because of spots that just had insane amounts of weeds and overgrowth. Also, the map at the start od the 1.3 mile trail shows the spot where there is supposed to be a utterfly garden. There was nothing there but overgrown grass and ferns and weeds. It made me and my family sad to see that the nature center trails and signage and trails evidently haven't been maintained or updated for years. Still definitely recommend a visit. Very fun place, great...
