Fantastic! Definitely worth getting the free tour.

Rising proudly from the surrounding countryside, the Hill Cumorah holds a special place in the hearts of those who follow the teachings of the Latter-day Saints. Nice historic site explaining the angelic and miraculous origins of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the role this venue played in the development of the Book of Mormon.

The site (as of 11/2021) is divided into 2 different sections, the visitors center and monument.

The visitors center offers free tours, free parking, and tours hosted by volunteer missionaries. Bathrooms are clean and family-friendly. Interior tour includes a beautiful Christus, videos, and interactive displays explaining this site and several other local historic sites related to the founding of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Tour guides are informative, helpful, and friendly.

The monument is opened for free self-guided tours and is located atop a steep slope that as of 11/2021 required hiking a few hundred yards up a steep, unpaved trail to the summit. As of 11/7/2021 handicapped access to the monument was limited due to construction of new paths and accessways. The monument is an obelisk featuring "the Angel Moroni" on top, with four relief plates describing some of the historic events surrounding "the Hill Cumorah." Due to the steepness of the climb and construction, visitors might call ahead to make sure access to the Hill is open and available during inclement weather. The site offers bus parking. Was an enjoyable visit.

Would have given it 5 stars if not under construction. Kind of excited to see how new construction improves...

What a thoughtfully built and well staffed institution to honor one of the most historically significant religious sites on Earth!!!☺️🙏💙🕊️🔥✅

Hill Cumorah is the famous site where young Joseph Smith found the sacred Golden Plates with assistance from the Angel Moroni! These plates would ultimately be translated into the Book of Morman, which was painstakingly published at the Grandin Building in nearby downtown Palmyra. The original 5,000 copies would evangelize people to "come onto Jesus Christ" rapidly, ultimately creating the fastest growing church on Earth and the only True Church of Jesus Christ! 💯🕊️🔥✅💙🙏☺️

Elder Stevenson and his wife, Sister Stevenson, did a fabulous job of showing me around the Visitors Center and showing me an excellently produced short film on the history of the plates!💙🙏🕊️📖🥇📚🕊️🙏💙

When you attend, please bring a soft voice and an air of peace with you. These grounds and this building are sacred, and they are maintained physically, financially and spiritually for the salvation of our souls. How blessed are...

Friendly missionaries there to assist with answering questions and giving a ride to the top of the hill to see monument if unable to hike up. Very clean and informative atmosphere in the visitors center with interactive displays of Church of Jesus Christ History of this sacred site. This is where the plates of gold and of brass were retrieved by Joseph Smith who then translated the writings of the plates from the language of reformed Egyptian to the English language which then became The Book of Mormon. The title for the book was given because Mormon was an ancient prophet historian who abridged the writings and then wrote some of his own words as well. His son Moroni, also wrote some words on the plates and then hid the plates in the Hill Cumorah prior to Joseph Smith being told where they were and retrieving them. For anyone interested in church history, this is a fantastic place to visit! Beautiful too and very family friendly. They have umbrellas to loan out for rainy days!
