This was my second visit here. The first time it was covered in snow/ice and I was very pregnant so I wasnât able to fully appreciate how beautiful and relaxing Three Falls Woods truly is. (Too much anxiety about slipping and falling while that far along pregnant) I do suggest wearing sneakers /boots that if possible have good grip or traction on the bottom and or if not I would suggest â wearing your old footwear because more likely than not they will end up being covered in mud as soon as you hit the trails. Oh and some spots were extremely slippery( Yes because of the mud and Icy the first time I went as expected of course during winter in upstate NY). Keep note; unless you take the road back to parking you will be going back up the same muddy trails that were extremely slick going down to see the falls.. .) just be prepared to get a little dirt on ya- hopefully you do not mind mud- with a few falling on your bottom type of scares Bc your feet didnât grab a more leafy/rocky section vs. solid ice or mud slide; yes we lost a few toddler shoes stuck right in the mud good and had to go back and get them out of the mud. my two toddlers were more upset over the now wet sock or mud between the toes than the actual slip and being covered in mud. - they are newbies at walking still. đ - đ) oh when the hubby and I went during a more winter, snow on the ground and super icy day- we actually sat on our butts on the trails and slid down like a slide- easier and safer since I was pregnant - this place is worth it. Or just wait until itâs super dry- either way- beautiful beautiful beautiful- It was one falls after another, and trails that either went down, left, up .. etc.. with all different sizes of falls. It seem huge but itâs not as big as you think once actually exploring- I felt like one of my kids just taking it all in and being excited to find one beautiful sight after another- we lost track of time and how far we were walking... the kids had a blast. (Ages rage with my oldest daughter who is 13 and my youngest daughter who is two.) oh I actually liked that we could see more due to the winter season which means the brush and trees were almost bare. Cute place. No trash that I noticed anywhere and surprisingly we were the only ones the entire time we were there, even with a decent amount of cars in the parking lot. Will be back in the...
Read moreThis park was an unexpected gem! The main loop trail takes you through a beautiful forest that is steeped in history. Walk the rocky trail to find stone walls built by early settlers. See even older foot paths from Native Americans. This also a great area for bird watching.
There are incredible rock formations throughout the trail. Be sure to walk the falls loop as well! The falls are a spectacular sight!
I highly recommend this trail! Keep in mind you will encounter some elevation and some areas of the trail are rocky and even have some boulders. It isnât a difficult trail, but I wouldnât call it easy in some parts...
Read moreThe CNY Land Trust has done an excellent job building out parking and maintaining the trails in this gorgeous preserve. The falls themselves are very dependent on rain, so if you want to see falls flowing, the only time is really early spring and autumn after a heavy rain. That being said, it's beautiful to walk around even if you don't have a lot of water as there are many trails going through mature woodlands and riparian areas. Parking can fill up at the lot on busy days, make sure obey all posted signs and no parking areas or you will...
