Nestled along the shores of Lake Ontario, Mexico Point State Park offers an enchanting escape into nature's embrace. My spontaneous visit left me pleasantly surprised and thoroughly satisfied. The park's main draw, undoubtedly, lies in its breathtaking views of the vast expanse of Lake Ontario. As I stood gazing out over the serene waters, I felt a sense of peace wash over me, as if time itself had slowed down to allow for moments of quiet contemplation.

Aside from its stunning vistas, Mexico Point State Park boasts well-maintained walking trails that wind through lush greenery and offer glimpses of local wildlife. The crisp air and the gentle rustle of leaves underfoot made for a rejuvenating stroll. Picnic areas dotted throughout the park provide the perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely lunch while soaking in the natural beauty that surrounds you.

While the park may not offer extensive amenities, its simplicity is part of its charm. It serves as a reminder to slow down, unplug, and reconnect with the beauty of the natural world. Whether you're a local looking for a peaceful retreat or a traveler passing through, Mexico Point State Park is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. My impromptu visit left me with cherished memories and a renewed appreciation for the simple...

My wife grew up at this park and her family has a camp on the lake so she brought me here.

Loved it at first, then we were both kind of disappointed. We both started fishing at the fishing hole/ cove designated on the trail- which is a pretty cool/ serene section of the park. It’s pretty flooded now with the “state of emergency” on Lake Ontario, but we managed. Caught some good fish on our first day! Anyways, we’ve gone back on our days off for a couple weeks. Then my daughter (6) wanted to go rock collecting at the beach, so we just did on 5/18/19, which was apparently the prim night for Mexico. No big deal, just kids taking pictures- nice spot for it. Kids and parents were respectfully taking pictures, and there were other families with their kids because it was a decent day. Anyways, on the beach (no exaggeration) without looking for it, 3 tampon applicators and 1 needle within 60 seconds of being at the waterline. We didn’t stay. None of this was at the fish cove side, but washed in on the beach. With a rock beach, it’s not like sand where they can use a machine and clean the beach- so anyone with...

The park is located on Lake Ontario. There are two entrances, one for the boat launch, and one for the park. There isn't a way to get from one side to the other without driving around to the other entrance. The park has a couple of different trails, they are easy to navigate and have mostly level terrain. The shorter trail runs along the creek and loops around the grave of Silas Towne, a Revolutionary War spy. The other trail is a nature trail, it is well-marked and just under a mile long. The park also has a beach for swimming and a picnic area that is open in the summer. There is an area for dogs also. Don't miss the sun setting...

The main purpose of this state park is as a boat launch. For that, it's excellent. You launch into the mouth of the Little Salmon River with very little current, well protected from the Lake Ontario wind and waves, with immediate access to Lake Ontario. We paddled the other way, up stream about 1.5 miles. Very scenic and calm, passing by marinas and lots of docks but also lots of wildlife. There was a fair amount of boat traffic but everyone was courteous and obeyed the no wake rule. The park itself is nice with views of the river and lake but it's small and doesn't have much there.
