Stopped here at the end of a weekend camping trip with my family and had a great time! It can definitely be scary to climb the tower if you're uncomfortable with heights. However, there are multiple levels, each with extensive viewing platforms, so it's very easy to go up as far as you're comfortable and then stop. It's also an EXTREMELY sturdy tower - I've been in far flimsier fire towers, and I was impressed with the construction on this one! Even at the top, with a light wind, there was minimal swaying.

It also connects to the Ice Age trail. As for the tower itself, it's on a pretty good size hill, so you will have plenty of steps even before starting up the tower. But eventually you are above the treetops, in the breeze, away from the bugs with an amazing view of the Kettle Moraine. Picnic tables, water and rustic restrooms are available, as well as a back packing shelter...
