We were excited to hear that a cool winery was opening nearby. The wine they make is great, but there are some aspects that need severe attention in regards to customer service. The outdoor patio is very nice, but the time we were there, we had two (what appeared to be grade school) girls that brought us our pizza that we ordered (pizza was good). But that was it. We had to ask for plates, silverware, napkins, water, etc. We had to go inside to get additional drinks, and deal with the group people that were wine tasting, so it took some time. The staff never came back to get our plates and leftover pizza, so we had a ton of flies and bees around. So many flies landed on the pizza, even with us waving them away, that we decided to not take the leftovers home then and wasted half a pizza. The music was good. TJ is a consummate salesman. He will make you feel like the most important person in the world, until he moves to the next person. We were promised during our several visits to SoLu a wide array of things from TJ, from a special surprise in regards to an impromptu birthday party we brought out there, to the mundane of just getting water glasses while tasting....all of which were left unfilled/forgotten once TJ moved on to someone else. It has great potential, and I know they just opened, but that is when you need to be on your best game. Because people will come out and try the new establishment. If customer service is lacking, even for a new place, it hurts. In addition, people brought their dogs to the winery, which had them fight with the winery/game farm dogs. Not very relaxing having to have growling and fighting dogs pulled apart numerous times over the two hours we were there. Also, the parking lot was still gravel and unmarked. Not that is it the problem of SoLu, but people that came there lacked common sense and parked in one of our group, who had to drive over the lawn and through trees to get out. Contrast that with the incredible customer service at Blind Horse, but then again, Blind Horse is also very expensive. Again, SoLu wine and mead are really, really good. We just wont be hanging out there. We will buy our bottles and go elsewhere...
Read moreWe went on a beautiful sunny Summer Sunday. We walked in and caught the last song of a live band. At the end of the set they said so get your seats for the next show. Having never been there before we didnât know what that meant. After the area we were seated in began to clear out, we walked around to see where everyone went. There is a second larger performance area/stage if you continue towards the back of the property. The area was chained off and they had a table set up to purchase ticket for the next band. This let me down. I didnât know the band and didnât plan to stay all afternoon so I didnât want to pay to hear them. We walked around and left soon after. We each had one drink. We would have stayed for more if there was something to do. They have a very nice selection of beer and seltzers if wine is not your thing. Indoors is a single stall womenâs bathroom, which was nice to not have to go outside but due to the set up the floor was covered with water next to and in front of the sink and dryer from drippy hands waiting for the paper towels to dispense. The wine selection was a pleasant surprise! I like to shop but their gift shop was very small and not a great selection. I would certainly have purchased something had they had more items. I like little shops like hotel gift shops or envision any boutique in Door County or Lake Geneva. Pocketbooks get loose especially after a flight! Overall a beautiful place. Loved that it is...
Read moreWine, music, dogs⊠what could be better?! We absolutely love Solu! We highly recommend to all our friends and family.
We love many of their wines but are not a fan of the meads. However they also offer beer, seltzers and mixed drinks so there is something for everyone.
It is a very chill, family and dog friendly place. It is very public knowledge that there will be house dogs around so donât go if you really donât like dogs (but honestly who doesnât like dogs)
We go with our two Golden Retrievers and kids and everyone has a great time! They do have plenty of seating but we often bring chairs and blanket too.
The food available is a food truck (that is owned by Solu and always there). It is good and have never had anything we didnât like. We be beneficial to offer some healthier/lighter options in my opinion.
The owner, TJ, is also so great! He goes above and beyond to make the customers happy. Also an owner who is always there on the property making sure his staff and customers are happy, you donât see that much anymore these days.
Perfect spot to relax and enjoy each others company as well...
