As you're entering this park they have a weird system to get you checked in. First booth directs you to a parking lot, to park your vehicle and check in.× which is where you'll be introduced to Jennifer×
Jennifer in the office is very unfriendly, unprofessional, unorganized and will have you go to your car 8 times for paperwork. Also she had a short temper which you made it very frustrating to deal with her.
Even after being told you couldn't check in yet. Another incident is we got here a little early and we asked if we could check into our site we were told no. But we could hang out at the beach. Even though they don't allow dogs we decided to drive around the campground which is where we drove by our empty campsite that was perfectly clean. We did ask Jennifer if we could go into the site since it was cleani and empty and we were told no so we decided to go into Lake George for the afternoon. So basically when we got to Lake George we got a call from Jennifer stating we were allowed to go into our campsite after all🤯. And it wasn't even being told that we couldn't go to the campsite that was the problem it was the attitude that we received with it from her and the attendance working here.
This will probably be the first and only time I will ever come to this Campground. I typically go to Old Forge area and everybody is professional organized and very polite . I haven't even been in there Campground for 5 minutes and I would never ever come back.
Furthermore, the toilets don't flush very well which means not everything goes down. Past the bathroom stalls do not have locks on them.
Another item to keep in mind is the water is cold a lot of the time we had to drive around the campground away from our site just to try to find a lukewarm shower. Imagine taking a shower well you're at the beach rinsing your feet off that's how these two showers are designed very poorly. So basically you have to hit the button every 10 Seconds.
And let's not forget about their policy about dog barking. For the last text hours I've heard nothing but the same three dogs bark over and over again yet they have not been removed like the document we signed stated. Plus it's getting ridiculous that...
Read moreI’ve been going to Moreau since I was in middle school, and I am 36 years old with my own children now. Sadly, today was my last day bringing my boys here. My youngest has had his birthday here every year as well- never again. It used to be a beautiful, clean, well maintained place. Not any longer. Rules as far as cleanliness, sanitation, safety, environmental rules, and just plain respect and consideration are a thing of the past. It got to the point that you could no longer even park and they were still letting people in- it was completely over run and out of control. People were swimming wherever they wanted- including in front of the boat launch area on the beach end of the lake. Children swimming everywhere- adults the same- no one watching their kids. You could not get boats or kayaks in or out of the lake and it was very unsafe. Lifeguards are also completely careless about where children and people are swimming. I think they’ve just given up since most people are ignorant and disrespectful choosing to swim anywhere and everywhere they want- they see the many signs stating otherwise. Carry in- carry out is clearly a thing of the past. There was trash everywhere by mid day- end of day was awful. Utensils, cans, random garbage, dirty DIAPERS- and the bathrooms were disgusting. Obviously they’ve just given up as far as enforcing this rule against rude, disrespectful slobs as well. It was just completely out of hand on so many levels- and very sad. Unfortunately I must say Moreau May be losing it’s decent, respectful, considerate, clientele in order to gain the complete opposite. I will NEVER go here again, and the only reason I rate it a 2 is because of what it USED TO BE and what it still should be. How awful. I no longer suggest this...
Read moreI stayed 2 nights at the campground in a beautiful, wooded, level site close to the rest rooms. As it is early in the season, I had no neighbors. This was my first solo trip with my new-to-me camper van.
I was given the opportunity to drive around the campground and select several sites I might like and my first choice was available.
I spent 2 enjoyable nights. Firewood was just $10 to fill a large burlap bag (provided). There's a dump station and dumpster.
On the way out, I forgot to retract my awning and hit a tree. The awning was stuck in the out position with a bent brace. I called the office and a ranger came to help, followed by a maintenance guy and the two of them got up on their Kubota and managed to get my awning in far enough for me to drive home (about 10 miles). This saved me the expense of a mobile repair and also got me home on time for an appointment.
Upon leaving, I stopped at the dumpster and didn't realize until 15 minutes after leaving the campground that my little mini dachshund had escaped and was not in the van! I went back to the campground office and she was there with the employees. They called me just as I drove in because they record what kind of dog you bring and now I am grateful they did!
Everyone was so nice and my two dumb mistakes could have been so much worse....
