Please AVOID visiting Stone Barns Center. My bf and decided to visit the grounds because google recommended it as LGBTQ+ friendly. We got here using the paths from Tarrytown and our encounter with what we thought was campus security was by the far the most disgusting and shameful experience my bf and I have ever experienced while walking around and doing nothing wrong but holding hands and hugging. An older gentleman perhaps in his 70s or late 60s with a baseball cap approached us in a white golf cart. He must have been having an awful day because the moment he asked us if we needed help and we said no he got upset and offended. We're tourist and wanted to explore on our own. He looked at us holding our hands and made such a disgraceful and shameful comment. He asked us if we go to church and when we said that's a very personal question to ask he said "Church has a lot of benefits and can change your life forever if you just give in and allow the G guy in" we were so confused at what was happening. It was obvious he had a problem with us holding hands and continued to say sexual immorality is a sin. SIRRRR what??? This gentleman really had the courage to express his religious beliefs to us like we were his co workers or friends. DISGUSTING. How is this a thing in 2025? Get over yourself!!!! Our sexual orientation is none of your business. How is this allowed at a non profit organization like this? An organization that proudly places a plaque of Peggy Rockefeller on it's campus. Someone needs to take action and PLEASE speak to MR. John Dimarco who you proudly post on your website. His about me states he has a degree in theology with an emphasis on global missions and teachings...Well SIR you sure failed us today in teaching us how to be a proper, friendly and caring human being. I never leave bad reviews but this was so hurtful to experience that someone in this organization needs to speak to him so it doesn't become a repeating pattern. If he speaks like this to random strangers I can't even imagine what he must say to his co workers that are like us and if Stone Barns is aware of this gentleman's religious beliefs and the fact that he just speaks about them to random visitors well...
ย ย ย Read moreI want to build a hut on the property and live here. The staff, the chefs, everyone here is friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and really cares about food, the farm, sustainability, and the community., While Blue Hill is renowned AND expensive AND hard to get a reservation at (which I will continue to attempt at regardless) Stone Barns provides a chunk of the produce that is used by them and also serves breakfast and lunch, weekends, and I believe a few other days of the week as well. We went to a cooking seminar and learned how to make pesto, homemade ricotta, cookies, and cocktails, while we got to pick the brains of incredibly talented chefs, bakers, and mixologists. And then of course we got to taste the food. They do vegetable baskets every week you can buy to get an assortment of what is in season, a special sheep shearing event (they have sheep and I think also cows?, and an apiary, and epic greenhouses). I could live on their bread. I went back the next day just to overload on carrot muffins. I am returning in two weeks for lunch at...
