If you enjoy wide open wild spaces, then you might enjoy this place. Activities that are allowed are hunting, trapping, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and wildlife viewing. Not allowed are: camping, campfires, biking, horses, or motor vehicles. This area is open 24/7/365, and you can find wet, dry, wooded or meadow habitats. There are numerous entryways with parking lots all around this park. Some are better maintained than others, so be careful lest you get stuck. This can be a great place for stargazing, too, as despite its proximity to the city of Waukesha, it does get quite dark. If there is a better place this close to the city, I have yet to find it. Dogs must be leashed from April 15 through July 31. At other times of the year, you may encounter dogs running free. Now, the caveats: Hunting and trapping are allowed, here. If you go, be careful.
