They have nice swimming and boating options, and the place is clean and free to go to. It's an inexpensive place to go and have a lot of fun. This is at least how I remember it as a kid.
I decided to go back out there today to try out some boating. Right before I went out on the boat, they closed the water due to "thunder". Said it would be closed a half hour. We waited around doing nothing for over an hour and left. There were a couple of clouds but otherwise the sun was shining. There were no thunderstorm watches, no storms in the forecast, but apparently the staff heard "thunder" multiple times. Nobody else heard it. So we didn't have any fun today. When I looked over at the staff, they were lounging about, chatting, having a great time. Was there any thunder? Maybe we will never know.
Maybe this review isn't fair, but either way I'm...
Read moreGreenwood Park is a good place to hike and enjoy nature, but I would not recommend RV camping here. I arrived around 10:00 and found out my reserved spot was taken because I showed up too late. As a result, I had to take someone else’s spot and hope nobody came later. There was no staff in the ranger’s booth to help, and they wouldn’t even answer their emergency line when I called. I was barely able to get a reception because there’s basically no single here. The spots are also really small and cramped. The facilities themselves aren’t too bad, and have fairly clean bathrooms, electricity hookups, a dumping station, and beautiful scenery. The park itself isn’t bad, but the staff is so incompetent and made my stay unpleasant. If you want to enjoy the day at this nice park, it should be fine for you. If you’re trying to RV camp here, beware of...
Read moreThis really is a nice campsite and this review is more for whomever is responsible for maintenance. I can't speak for all of the loops, but ours -- in the 20s -- were in desperate need of reseeding. This place would be exceptional if you worked on the grass. I am not just talking about where there is high traffic -- I know that is hard to maintain -- but all around the large lots. They are a mixture of dirt, gravel, mud and leaves. Check out site 23 to see what I mean. Also, in our loop and in all of the others, the sites need to be leveled. Many of the gravel pads lead to a slope that, as every camper knows, is just. no. fun. Check out site 24 if you want to see what I mean; it has a deep gravel slope that we had to learn to navigate and master. But! Other than that, the campground is nice, secure...
