Sherrill Brook Park — Attraction in Town of New Hartford

This park hosts such a variety of activity! There always seems to be groups aplenty here. A gazebo, playground, sports fields, pavilions, trails, and a membership required dog park fill the acrage. When I visit, it is either for the very popular playground or for the wonderful trails! I ADORE the trail system here. I am a walker, but know that these are multi-use trails. Shared primarily with mountain bikers and cross-country skiers. They have signed up that they rent out XC skins and snowshoes. I think I will come rent some snowshoes in the winter! The trails wrap through tree-shaded woods, crossing the creek a few times. Hills or flats, this park has both. The trails are well worn (sometimes to the roots!), with markers a plenty. The only downfall to the trails is with it being multi-use, there are specific trails that are made/maintained by the mountain biking community, that are not as well marked - though that may be by design. The trails are never busy, so even if you come here and see tons of cars and people, you get peace and solitude...

Beautiful trails, bathrooms were clean, paths were labeled and well maintained... We Didn't hike On the trail through the woods but that will be the adventure for next time... Been coming here since I was a kid... Was nice to see the old main staples like the gazebos, tennis courts and kids playing area were updated but still there along with many new additions... Such as an area designated specially for dogs, which has lots of room and several fenced areas to play in, a paved walking route along the outside of the park that encircles it... Highly recommended for the families to come out and play, explore, hike, or gather for a outdoor covered reunion or gathering.. The various gazebos all have names and can be rented out through the New Hartford town park web page... Reasonably priced and very easy to set up and...

We were actually very shocked the park was not busy at all and little to no family gathering for Memorial Day. The park was in rough shape also as the bathrooms smelled terrible and were dirty. The property didn't look as it used too, not all cut weeded and maintained. I understand wet weather etc but this is just not right. Yes labor shortages are being blamed, covid etc, it's all excuses. They don't even have any picnic tables out in park and the benches that are there need help. The Town of New Hartford has too much on their plate in regards to parks to keep all them maintained and it's sad. Monies have been spent elsewhere 🙄 and wasted. Sad because it used to be beautiful...
