Winney's Farm — Attraction in Town of Northumberland

We went today for the first time with our 15 month old baby. We loved the fields and had a great time picking blueberries but we had to leave early as our baby started crying and was just not happy to be there. We came to the register with small amount of berries. The lady weighed them and then just turned her back on us without saying anything. We stood there with cash to see how much we have to pay. Then she turned and rudely said am not gonna charge you its 34cents and rudely handed us the bag. My husband and I left but we are both shocked as to how this lady treated us. I understand its your business and you want people to spend the money but you cant expect everyone to have a full bucket specially being there first time with a small baby. I was so excited to visit this farm as we just moved in the area but this lady left us feeling down. She could have cared to ask what happened if she wasnt happy to see small amount of berries. We LOVE winneys!! We have been going for the last 3 years with my 4 yr old and just started taking my 1.5 yr old too, it’s become a tradition to go every year. Sometimes we go multiple times throughout a season bc the kids can’t get enough. The blueberries are always so big and sweet. Every year we get the , they are the size of nickels. The staff is so friendly and they talk to you about the best areas to pick and how to store the blueberries. We probably pick close to 30lbs (total for the season, not each trip) each season and they last in the fridge for about 3 weeks if you don’t wash them ahead of time. Winney's Farm is a wonderful place to pick blueberries in the summer. They have pails available and will gladly share the best picking spots on the day you arrive. Children are welcome. We brought my two year old grandson and he had a great time picking berries and hiding in the bushes. We pick enough to freeze so we can enjoy Winney's berries all year long. The staff and owners are very friendly and helpful. Plan on spending some time just enjoying a beautiful day knowing you are picking healthy berries to enjoy with your family.
