We visit here quite often throughout the year. We do not camp. We fish, visit the beach and take photos. It's a beautiful, quiet place year round. The beach fills up fast on the hottest weekends of the summer so get there early to grab a picnic table (although they do have a lot of them). The sand beach is nice and the bottom isn't as rocky as others we visited. The biggest complaint is the goose poop which is everywhere. I know it's nature and all but you really have to watch where you're walking. If you have little ones make sure you pay attention to what they may be picking up off the ground. We were there a few days ago and we had to compete with the geese for our spot. Everyone was trying to keep them away from their stuff. That coupled with unsupervised kids chasing them made us all work against each other to try and send them out to sea so to speak. There are 2 good size parking lots by the beach and another big one over by the fishing area. They also have a designated area for dogs to go swimming. If you have a state park sticker admission to the beach and fishing...

I recently camped at Ottawa Lake, arriving by bicycle from the Glacial Drumlin Bike Trail. This is a beautiful park, with a large, deeply wooded campground and with plenty of showers/restrooms and water. The DNR staff I met were friendly and helpful. They sell ice, ice cream treats, firewood, and bottled water and cold pop by the registration center. Ottawa Lake is fantastic. Mild, very clear water with a large sandy beach. I camped at a walk-in site that overlooked the lake. It was delightfully private and isolated from other camp sites. Mosquitoes are to be expected near water, but they were much less prevalent than a couple of months ago, and I did not encounter any ticks. Highway 67 runs relatively close to the campground area so there is some car and truck noise. Also, there are residential areas not more than 1/2 mile away, and I did hear dogs barking at night, but it didn't bother me. I had an enjoyable time at this park and I look forward to returning with friends and family. For $14, I had a great...

Had a miserable experience. We had stuff stolen from us. The staff was nice but most seemed like they didn't know their job. The director was very rude. They seemed to make policy up as they went. Made us move twice, yet still have away our site under a reservation, even though most sites are first come first serve and CANNOT be reserved. Their only saving grace are the rangers there, at least they know how to do their job. I felt like we were treated like second class citizens. I was lied to by staff. I strongly encourage my friends and family to stay someplace else. I will not ever be returning to camp there! I have never felt so upset about the way I was treated as I am about there. If you choose to camp there good luck. To the rangers who work there, thank you, as you are the only ones who...

The campsites here are so big and wooded, this is going to be one of our favorite parks. For people with mobility issues (and people sick and tired of hikes that feel like boot camp), there are blacktopped places to wander-- including one path along the edge of the lake. There's a big sandy swimming area, picnic tables, playground, and lots of undergrowth in the woods to lend privacy. It feels remote, but you're within easy driving distance of anything you need. The camp showers are modern and they have individual doors. The park staff were friendly and they recommended fun things to do nearby!

Made our 3 night reservation in advance and paid for it- showed up at 4pm day of our reservation and someone was on our site. Warden said they were too drunk to move and we had to pick a different site, but we'd have to move after 2 nights because there weren't any other sites with 3 nights. (Or move to our original site the next day.) So setup, take down, set up, and take down again. No thanks. Stayed 2 nights and left. Nice campground, pretty trails, fun dog beach area, kayak the little lake and bike around. Noise from highway can be loud.

Nice place to cool off on a summer day. Lots of people are there on the weekends. But it is a pretty nice lake. They have some bbq pits. Many people bring there own. There were so many people there having fun and not one cop in sight. Pretty amazing. There is still plenty of room to spread out as well. We say a group of three sand cranes walking around hoping for hand outs. They were making lots of noise. They are Beautiful birds and very large. People fish but i don't think there is really much in the lake.
