It's a very nice small park/arboretum in the middle of The Gold Coast of LI, surrounded by mansions that can exceed over $50 Million. You can see these mansions behind tall gates and long winding driveways. The arboretum is very nicely laid out. There's a children section, 2 ponds that have swans/ducks/turtles. There are hiking pathways that take you through the mini forest on the property. I particularly like walking through the center because you truly get the feeling of walking through a desolate woods. Entrance was free during the time I visited. I believe it may be free during week days. Entrance is usually $5/per car. There's a rehabilitation sanctuary there as well, and they have a variety of birds, falcon/owls/opossums that they have rescued and are rehabilitating. There's also an animal hospital on-site for the rescue and that's in the carriage house. There are donation boxes in the animal sanctuary section, so folks, don't be cheap, drop a few bucks in there. Picnic area and kids playhouse are easily accessible. Walk through trail to visit the rescued birds on site. Many trails through the woods as well. The small lake has turtles too! So relaxing!!! The beautiful trees, birds singing, rabbits, turtles and frogs in their beautiful pond. The walking trails in the woods, fresh air, beautiful big trees!!!
