The geolocation is slightly off since MetroNorth’s station is a little further to the south. The trailhead itself is great, with unpaved parking for roughly four cars. Informative bulletin board with basic maps. Footbridges spanning Swamp River’s boggy banks in which beavers swim. There are two fixed chairs inscribed with the names of the states of Georgia and Maine, as the Appalachian Trail’s beginning and terminus. Read moreNice moderate hike on a mild spring day. Short (blue) connector trail to Appalachian Trail (white), then counterclockwise around lake - be on lookout for yellow blazes (on the right) and sign just after 1 mile from trailhead. Good blazes and trail, a few easy stream crossings, and not much elevation change.

Read moreWalked on a bike path that was part of the AT. Nice area with a stream running on the side. Follow it towards Pawling and it leads you right to the Appalachian Trail.
