This is a great little county park in Shawano County. It offers a few different length trails along the Embarrass River and into the surrounding forest. It is a wonderful place to be when in need of nature and its therapeutic effects. This area of the state is littered with glacial boulders and they are abundant above, below, and in all shapes and sizes. It makes for wonderfully rocky shores along the river and some small rapids in the river itself, while making the trails a bit more strenuous having to watch your footing in places. The woods are open allowing wonderfully green cathedral-type sights as the sun beams down to the forest floor. The wildlife can be scarce at times because of the humans visitors but clearly abundant even if shy. There are two sheltered picnic areas, public restrooms, a small playground, water fountain for drinking and washing, and even a few rustic campsites have been added. Plenty of river shoreline for fishing, meditating, and exploring. Plenty of beauty and freshness to take in and recharge...

Hidden gem! Beautiful scenery, playground, picnic tables. I love sitting on the giant rocks in the middle of the river watching the rapids. The hike from the playground to the top of rapids is moderately easy, and a great walk for families. I hiked up to where it connects to the brown trail, part of it is on an uneven slippery surface right next to a 20 (or more?) foot drop off. It would be difficult of elderly or small children. Lots of slow burning inclines and careful steps around fallen trees and hidden rocks from the...

I think this place is very special and beautiful. Be nice to the big old cedar tree and please don’t carve or hang on its lateral branches so it can be around with us for a long time.

I love little spots like this, hidden gems in the middle of farmland. Remnants of hemlock, cedar and pine. The embarrass river is gorgeous.

Loved hiking it in the winter, scrambling and sliding around and still very enjoyable. Had it totally to myself! Would love to come back in...
